Merge proposal
editA two line biography really isn't sufficient to support a Wikipedia article. Manochahal is notably only as the founder of the Dal Khalsa (International) movement, and this article should be redirected to that one. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:56, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- As it appears that Manochahal was responsible for the founding of two separate groups, both of which are fairly notable, there is not a clear merge target, and so the article should probably be left on its own and expanded if possible. I'll remove the merge and mark it as a stub. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:16, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Bias
editThis article uses only one reference, a pro-indian book. This is an unreliable article. Genocide is too big to hide for India. This soldier is an activist who swore to defend innocent people from being murdered by police. #indianpolicebrutality Sarbpreet1234567 (talk) 13:22, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Fact vs Opinion
edit"Dreaded," "cowards," etc. The "Death" section of this article is heavily colored by the opinions of the writer. This is the absolute worst kind of Wikipedia contributing. 174.250.192.26 (talk) 20:23, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Sikh Identity Issues
editJust as a note, as snarky comments have appeared on this issue several times, the Manochahal name etymology and ancestral lineage is a recognized gotra of the Jatt Sikh community. Manochahahal's status as a landowning farming family in a predominantly Jatt Sikh village and district further supports Manochahahal's caste identity. Manochahahal's election as the Chief Jathedar of the Akal Takht also indicates Jatt identity, as there have only been 3 recorded non-Jatt Sikh Jathedars since 1947.
There is another Gurbachan Singh who comes from the Ramgarhia Sikh community and who served as Jathedar during the 21st century. The similar names may be why there is so much contention and confusion on this aspect. Saragarhi29 (talk) 14:28, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
