Cleaning up this article

edit

I just did some minor cleaning up of the NHL career section of this article, but I think the entire article needs some major attention.

Also his turn-around performance thus far in '07 isn't even written about! IrisKawling 06:07, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, and good luck. :) --Mus Musculus (talk) 06:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll see what I can do about his Elitserien career and early life. --Krm500 11:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've done some major cleanup on 05-06. We need to work on 06-07. Thanks! Jester29 20:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ethnicity

edit

He is not ethnically a swede (see Swedish people for a definition of this ethnicity), but a jamtlander, which is a minority living in the former Norwegian province Jämtland which became Swedish in the mid 17th century. (213.67.64.22 23:04, 1 June 2007 (UTC))Reply

  • Yes, this is true, but in todays Sweden all former ethnicalls are gone and is regarded as swedes over all. There is not only Jämtlanders, there is also (I don't know the English names) skåningar, gotläningar, götar, svear and dalmasar for examples but all these is today swedes and so are Jämtlanders too. (I may have to apologize for my bad English. I'm do usually speak Swedish and doesn't write/speak Englsih very much) --90.224.11.241 19:12, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

youtube clip

edit

There is a clip on youtube floating about: clip, won't add it to the page as I'm not sure it's of any public value? --mere 15:22, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why would it be? --Krm500 16:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll leave that for everyone to decide, that's why I didn't add it to the article mate. --mere 10:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

fans chant

edit

Take it from me, a Rangers season-ticket holder, the fans chant "Hen-ry!" not "Hen-rik!" --dool325 04:42, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm a Rangers season ticket holder, too, and have always heard Hen-rik. Pronounced correctly. Which is why it may sound like Henry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.43.157.226 (talk) 15:11, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:LundqvistNYPostGold.jpg

edit

Image:LundqvistNYPostGold.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

World Inline Hockey Championships

edit

Lundqvist won a gold medal at the 2002 World Inline Hockey Championships. It's obviously notable and should be in the article, but where? A separate section seams unnecessary, what do you all think about placing it in the International play section? --Krm500 (talk) 01:22, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infobox: Nickname (old field data removed)

edit
| nickname = King Henrik<ref name="KingHenrik"/><br>
Hank<ref>[http://rangers.lohudblogs.com/2007/09/14/instant-karma/ Instant karma]</ref>

I removed this from the infobox today. Feel free to include it somewhere else in the article (King Henrik is/was already present in the lead section). --Bamsefar75 (talk) 16:56, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Records

edit

Since there are other NYR-records in the list shouldn't there also be that he's the NYR goaltender who got 100 wins in fewest games/attempts? (I don't think he's the fastest in the league though, but I bet he's up in the top five.) W-dahl (talk) 21:55, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Draft

edit

Where does the article mention that he was drafted in 2000 in the 7th round, 205th overall? (it's only in the stats box) Juve2000 (talk) 05:06, 21 February 2010 (UTC) that can be checked by just going to his NHL.com page. 99.255.58.85 (talk) 19:26, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

inaccurate comment about style

edit

"the aggressive way he performs the butterfly." this is simply false. He is known for playing VERY deep in his net and using his reflexes to bail him out. He is know for NOT being aggressive enough and not using his size enough. 99.255.58.85 (talk) 19:26, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I second this, he is always known for how deep he plays in the crease and relying on the butterfly to take away the bottom of the net and his great reflexes to make other saves 173.3.6.31 (talk) 01:08, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I Will third this. He is for the most part a Patient goalie who waits until the shot is taken. Jonathan Quick and Jimmy Howard are known to be aggressive while Henrik is known to be Patient. 84.109.249.120 (talk) 03:52, 14 May 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.109.249.120 (talk) 03:43, 14 May 2014 (UTC) 84.109.249.120 (talk) 03:51, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Much of the text is copied from his personal(?) NHL homepage

edit

Most of the intro is taken from http://www.hlundqvist30.com/bio/ verbatim. This page is later in the text referenced by footnote 36. Hmm. The comment on his aggressice butterfly style in another section is actually taken from this web page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.246.20.136 (talk) 04:44, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

bad use of template:nyp

edit

the nyp template, which has nothing to do with this article is used, and I'm not sure what to replace it with, could someone please fix?Naraht (talk) 20:17, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Personal life

edit

Given that this is supposed to give a rather brief overview of the most important aspects of his life, the fact that someone once impersonated him drunk on a video and a few tabloids wrote about it probably shouldn't be included? It's not even about him, and hardly central enough to be relevant for his biography. /Julle (talk) 21:41, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tried to add some sturcture to the section to make it less a bunch of paragraphs semi-randomly heaped on each other; removed this part while I was at it. /Julle (talk) 21:46, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Lead image

edit

Should the lead image not be one where the subject's face is actually visible? I was going to use File:Henrik & Joel Lundqvist 2009-11-19 001 (cropped).jpg as a replacement, but I don't typically write sports articles, so I figured I'd ask if there's specific protocol re: preference given to images of athletes in uniform. Incorrect Medical Information

edit

The article states that Henrik Lundqvist had Pericarditis which required cardiac surgery. Please note that this is incorrect.

Mr Lundqvist was born with a congenital heart condition known as "Bicuspid Aortic Valve". As a consequence of this condition he developed aortic calcification resulting in aortic stenosis as well as a dilated proximal ascending aorta which increases the risk for aortic dissection. He required cardiac surgery for the aortic stenosis and dilated aorta. He later developed pericarditis as a consequence of his cardiac surgery. All of this information is stated either explicitly or in passing in the Netflix documentary "Open Heart". 174.94.122.36 (talk) 02:07, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
