Census of India before Independence
editHi, I recommend editors working on this article to refer to Wikipedia page, Census of India prior to independence for finding useful information to add to this page. All the best.Jonathansammy (talk) 22:57, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Racist?
editThese caste articles seem quite racist. They seem to justify systemic inequality. What are their justification for a continued presence on Wikipedia? Can someone explain this to me? Sincerely, GenQuest "scribble" 04:09, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- the purpose of creating these pages are to be racist, what else anyone can expect from open-platform, hijacked by few bunch of propagandist. there are coming up with new terms, like upper backward caste. Wikipedia is becoming joke, day by day. as this website will cease to exist, once the content become so corrupt and no-one will take wikipedia seriously Clrsitusinsall (talk) 06:34, 29 April 2023 (UTC).
Notability
editHi, @John B123:. I think you are here from a long time and since you are the new page reviewer here, you are well versed in WP:GNG and other such policies. Recently, i saw attempt to put tag of notability by a user consistently on this article, which was approved by you to be published at the Wikipedia, when it was created. The user is putting "the issue of simple Google search not giving enough results for this topic". Which is not true and also the WP:GNG says that it's not the only criteria to determine notability. You must have checked that the topic is extensively covered in many high quality sources. I would like to take inputs from you regarding the persistent attempt of the user to put a tag showing that this is not a notable topic. Heba Aisha (talk) 06:35, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- The term “Upper Backwards Caste” is only mentioned in one document and that is “ Annexure-II of the Mungeri Lal commission report”. The more common term is Other Backwards Caste. Most of the sources used in this article in fact don’t have any reference to “Upper Backwards Caste”. In my opinion, this article can be merged into the Other Backwards Class article but is simply not notable enough to deserve a separate article.RuudVanClerk (talk) 15:19, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- No, as these books which are used to write this article not only mention the term but also describes the history of these castes clubbed together as "Upper Backwards". Basically, it's a term used in caste based politics of some states. Go through the book sources, they have a lot of content wrt topic.Heba Aisha (talk) 18:57, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Also, if you belong to Bihar, you must be aware that this state has sub classification of backward castes.@RuudVanClerk:, central government in India has set up committee under the chairmanship of G.Rohini, for classification of OBC's at the centre[1] but in Bihar this sub classification already exists.Upper Backwards refers to BC-2 category of Bihar's list of backward castes.Heba Aisha (talk) 19:01, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- @RuudVanClerk:, here BC-2 are the upper backwards and BC-1, who are commonly called EBC (or Extremely Backwards) are another segment of OBC. The merger is not ok. Please, read the sources and do major changes only when you are really knowledgeable about the topic.Heba Aisha (talk) 19:05, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

There seems to me to be sufficient secondary sources to meet WP:GNG. Google search results do not play a part in notability evaluations on Wikipedia. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 22:48, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot John, i needed intervention by a third party specially someone like you who are well aware of policy as you are new page reviewer. I think RuudVanClerk has got his reply. I will still advice him to be aware with the policies and stop disrupting articles without proper knowledge of the subject.Heba Aisha (talk) 06:11, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Heba Aisha, i think there is no point to create dedicated pages, for content, which can be added in some section of existing article. Also most of the content looks useless for any meaningful info, which is not already available in other wikepedia pages. same set of images, which were uploaded by bunch of lunatic contributed, are being spread all over the wikipedia as gospal truth. This article is duplicate at best and racist at worst. Good luck with your life to add meaning contribution to society instead of distorting the past, present, future of indian society. Generalising the Article
editCan we generalise the article for whole India and not only Bihar? Harman Paul (talk) 12:14, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
