Thank you for leaving the thanks on my edit!

I do have a quick question, how do I join the Wikipedia counter vandalism team, page reviewers, draft reviewers and ECT.. John Bois (talk) 02:54, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

The relevant information on those roles can be found at Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants, and Wikipedia:User access levels#Extended confirmed users. — Goszei (talk) 03:08, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the fuss at World War II, as that just made me look silly and careless. Your patience is much appreciated! I'll tell you a secret: I think I got the diffs mixed up when reading, so I was treating your version as the original until I realized halfway through explaining your own improvements to you. Put me in the stocks please! Remsense ‥  23:27, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

No worries, friend. By the way, keep up the good work at Chinese characters, I read it recently and it looks like an FA rising. — Goszei (talk) 23:32, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think I will start the nomination once the PR closes, thank you so much! I am pretty proud of that article, and hopefully I can do the same for Writing soon! Remsense ‥  23:36, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Joseph Stalin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Perm.

Your recent sweep of vital articles is commendable! I really hope the developers figure out interface fixes on mobile so that the acceptable short descriptions don't suddenly disappear again over time. Oh! That reminds me—I've been pondering the idea of doing drives in this vein to collaborate in tuning up our most important articles. It seems accessible for people to pick and choose from a group of articles, and would really go a long way in improving the encyclopedia efficiently, I think.Remsense ‥  03:52, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I know of a project organized on the Wikimedia Discord server which picked a vital article every week (usually a lower-level one) and directed editors to focus their efforts on improving it. I was involved in it a few years ago, and when I checked just now it is still semi-active. I always thought that having a drive like that on-wiki would be productive — just needs someone to start it. — Goszei (talk) 04:06, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I found the record of past selected articles, if you're interested: Wikipedia:Discord/Team-B-Vital. — Goszei (talk) 16:39, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's why I'm here! The fact that you're showing active interest is really encouraging. The model I'm pondering is something like: every two weeks or so, pick somewhere between 5 and 10 articles that loosely correspond to a given theme, but here's the secret: we cast a wide net, such that most editors will hopefully see a few articles that spark their interest. Some number should be vital articles. Then, for the selection, we could have some achievements for tasks accomplished on each article during the month, like "6/10 reference issues cleaned up; 10/10 leads checked or copyedited". I think that would really motivate users who want direction in their editing, and would like to collaborate on small- and medium-sized contributions—could easily spark much larger improvements as well.
