I uploaded more pics, on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:51, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I uploaded pics of a trip that was a 10-day celebration of a 16 November event, but the day was also when a dear friend died. We sang Hevenu shalom aleichem at his funeral yesterday, and it was good. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:01, 30 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for standing for arbitrator. I am far away from it all (travel, mourning), not in the mood, so just an informal question you can answer or ignore:

What does this 2024 DYK tell you about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:24, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

November was rich in sadness and happiness for me, expressed in music. Regarding my question, I found one so far who looked into the matter and didn't stay at the surface, Simonm223. There are two composers on the Main page today, Siegfried Thiele and Aaron Copland. I find the response of my friend Jerome Kohl to a question on Copland's article talk promising. What do you think? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:05, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Today's story comes from a DYK about a concert that fascinated me, and you can listen! For my taste, the hook has too little music - I miss the unusual scoring and the specific dedication - but it comes instead with a name good for viewcount. I'd still like to know what you think about the Copland posts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:14, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

On the Main page today Jean Sibelius on his birthday. Listening to Beethoven's Fifth from the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris. We sang in choirs today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:52, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Listen today to the (new) Perplexities after Escher. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:53, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is good to see you again, Gerda. I hope the memory of the person who passed will forever be a blessing to you. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 21:34, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, and yes, I'm sure it will! - Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:36, 16 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I come to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:19, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Revdel request

edit

Hello @Guerillero,

Hope this finds you well. May I request a revdel from this revision to whenever the language about a cult was added (I don't know how to find when the text was added)? The source doesn't seem to back it up and it's a WP:BLP and WP:WORDSTOWATCH scenario.

Thanks, Bremps... 19:13, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

ACE Results

edit

The ACE results are not what I wanted, but I would like to thank the 676 community members who trusted me. I plan on keeping CU, returning to content work, and helping at AE. As for the speculation on the other site about why I lost, I would like to refer them to the seven ACE elections I have run in.

  • 2012: 56.25%; 234 Supports
  • 2013: 54.04%; 253 Supports (first runner up)
  • 2014: 62.02%; 227 Supports (elected)
  • 2020: 60.72%; 521 Supports
  • 2021: 62.47%; 551 Supports (first runner up)
  • 2022: 69.32%; 635 Supports (elected)
  • 2024: 66.08%; 676 Supports (first runner up)

My destiny is to be the first runner up by about 3%-6%. This was a reversion to the mean. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 07:25, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I was really hoping I'd get to serve on the committee with you   hey, maybe there's time for that next year! looking forward to working with you at AE in any case :) theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 11:30, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Reporting a sock who is topic ban evading from a recent Arb Com decision.

edit

So how exactly does one do this? CU not batting an eye on fresh evidence and instead defers to previous (premature) investigation results, when it is a blatant attempt of socking to circumvent bans.

The account was made during the Arb Com process and only started its activity when it is for certain that the main account was going to be topic banned, cooking their sock's age and edit count before finally getting involved again with the related topics and feuding once more with the editors, exhibiting the very same behaviour that they were banned for over in JP, e.g. copypasting warnings that were intended for them, back to the users who posted it. Meanwhile post-Arb Com, the main account barely has any activity and it should be noted that the account was editing almost on a daily basis prior to the Arb Com.

I'd like to hear your opinions regarding this. 14.192.212.242 (talk) 08:42, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@14.192.212.242: What account? -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 16:37, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Refer to here.
First 10 edits were minor ones (to inflate edit count), all repeated on a single page. Unexplained removal of terms and that behaviour bleeds over to other articles. There is a reason why that account (and its socks) were indef from the JP wikis. 14.192.212.242 (talk) 21:43, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Ealdgyth, have you ever found a notable horse that was owned by a bishop? That could be a fun merging of your interests -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 16:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
