License tagging for Image:Usbank-LinuxFund-card.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Usbank-LinuxFund-card.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Benj franklin savings and loan
editThis article is written in a way that 1) expresses a non-neutral point of view and 2) is not encyclopedic in tone. The POV problems are so blatant that the article may face deletion if it is not immediately improved. Please rewrite this article without terminology that does not include such statements as "wrongly seized" and the like. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 06:25, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Benj franklin savings and loan
editA tag has been placed on Benj franklin savings and loan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 08:38, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you are rather grumpy. Chill out. If I really wanted to delete this for the reason I stated, I would have already flagged it for deletion in the proper manner, and it would likely be gone already. And the "drunk with power" remarks were entirely out of line. Please give WP:CIVIL a good read.
- However, in checking your references, I have since found a much greater problem: copyright violation. You appear to have copied and pasted much of the article word for word from this page. That is an apparent violation of federal copyright laws. If your reply is, "It's may page" or "I maintain this" or something that indicates a direct connection to the site, then in that case you have run afoul of Wikipedia's policies regarding conflict of interest, which basically says you should not write an article about a subject with which you have a direct involvement. Because of the copyvio, I must flag this for speedy deletion. You may post another article about this subject, but you cannot simply copy it from another source. You must rewrite it in your own words. It's the law. (Yeah, that #$%@ 8-trillion gorilla again.)
- When you do rewrite the article — and I do believe it is a notable subject worthy of an article — please do so in a manner that does not make accusations one way or the other. I'm a fiscal conservative as well (and a conservative in pretty much every other way) and I think the government screws up royally in myriad ways. However, Wikipedia rules simply don't allow us to take sides in an article, so it's "Just the facts, ma'am," as they used to say on Dragnet. I sense you have rather strong feelings about this matter and I can empathize, but we still have to play by the rules here. A good way to start a revised article would be, "Benj. Franklin Savings and Loan was a thrift based in Portland, Oregon, which was closed due to seizure by the United States Government in 1990. The seizure was later found by the federal court system to have been carried out in error. Shareholders of the thrift have sued the federal government for damages caused by the seizure; the case is still open." That lead paragraph spells oput the facts (as I understand them) in an even-handed manner.
- I'll let you take it from there, as I assume you have a good knowledge of the whole affair. Let me know if you need help. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 08:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Spiritwars1.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Spiritwars1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 18:51, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Articles about books
editPlease note that while we are delighted to have additional editors in the project who are passionate about books, links to Amazon's website are to be avoided, as it is a commercial website, not a neutral one, dedicated to selling books indiscriminately. Addionally, reviews on Amazon are totally unreliable, and notoriously likely to be created by friends or enemies of the authors and/or the author's ideas and opinions. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Scan of A side of an original poster for the 1969 Seattle Pop Festival.gif
editThanks for uploading File:Scan of A side of an original poster for the 1969 Seattle Pop Festival.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Non-free use of File:Scan of "B" side of an original poster for the 1969 Seattle Pop Festival.gif
editThank you for uploading File:Scan of "B" side of an original poster for the 1969 Seattle Pop Festival.gif. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.
An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 10:18, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

editJ. O. Frye House
editI initially declined, and then carried out a Revision Deletion at Draft:J. O. Frye House. Please note the discussion at User_talk:Spicy#RD1 It would be nice to have an article about this historically significant house. However, there is some work to do to comply with requirements. I trust you can see that @Doncram: is significant subject matter expertise in this area. I don't know how active he is currently, but I urge you to contact him for advice, as he is probably done more work on NRHP sites than any other editor, and would be an excellent resource for how to improve the article to make it acceptable.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:22, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
The article SpiritWars has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No evidence that this article meets WP:GNG and BEFORE searches do not return any evidence that reliable independent sources exist to support this article. Also, article has numerous issues that have not been addressed.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DocFreeman24 (talk) 07:00, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of SpiritWars
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on SpiritWars requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Concern regarding Draft:J. O. Frye House
editHello, Scottrainey. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:J. O. Frye House, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Draft space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for article space.
If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion under CSD G13. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request userfication of the content if it meets requirements.
If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available here.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 16:01, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:J. O. Frye House
editHello, Scottrainey. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "J. O. Frye House".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 15:46, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
