Explain
editCan you explain why you moved that page to mainspace? Hipocrite (talk) 02:01, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Hipocrite. Since IPs can't create non-talk pages, if they want to start an SPI investigation, it has to be started in the "Wikipedia talk" namespace then moved by an autoconfirmed user to the WP space. That is the standard process. For more info see the box labelled "How to open an investigation:" and expand the "If you are an anonymous (IP address) editor, please click "show" to the right and use the box below" box at WP:SPI. Stickee (talk) 02:09, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Do you typically review the things you move to main space, or is it not your obligation to do so? Hipocrite (talk) 02:10, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- No. In fact I haven't heard of any instances where it wasn't moved. It isn't an endorsement of any kind; the whole process (designed by the SPI clerks/CheckUsers) is simply a workaround of Mediawiki restrictions. Stickee (talk) 02:14, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'll take it up on SPI later then. Thank you for your time. Hipocrite (talk) 02:15, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- No problem. A brief glace shows that the IP has provided weak-to-no evidence. Update: And now a clerk has deleted it as "baseless". So there we go :) Stickee (talk) 02:22, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

editCould you please explain what this is in reference to? A search shows no relevant case having been filed at WP:SPI. Thanks. Short Brigade Harvester Boris (talk) 02:51, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Short Brigade Harvester Boris. Please see the above section on my talk page. The SPI case page has since been deleted (click on the redlink to see the deletion log). Thanks, Stickee (talk) 02:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Seeking assistance
editHi Stickee, I was wondering if you could help me out. I have a paid COI on Smart grid in China and I'm hoping you have a minute to check out my updated version of the lede here. It's mostly minor copyediting fixes and updating information to be more current, as the existing version is a bit outdated. Thanks! --FacultiesIntact (talk) 21:04, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi FacultiesIntact, I've updated the lead as requested with this diff. Stickee (talk) 22:38, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

- Hello again! Could I trouble you with some more minor edits? I'm working on Assurant this time and want to update the address to 28 Liberty St instead of One Manhattan Plaza to reflect the name change documented here and here, as well as their Fortune 500 ranking, which is now 285 and not 304. - Stickee, you are seriously being so incredibly helpful. I noticed a couple more small things on Assurant if you've got the time. The Operations section has a leading apostrophe before "Assurant Employee Benefits" and the Health policy claim denials section has a few typos: "the firm" is lacking a space at the end of the second paragraph, and "woman" is spelled "womanr" at the beginning of the third paragraph. As always, thanks for all the assistance!--FacultiesIntact (talk) 06:58, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

- You're seriously an all-star. I don't know if this is your area of expertise, but do you have any ideas on what else needs to be done to the article to get the advert banner removed from Assurant? Thank you for your help with the Oxford Vaccine Group page!
editHi Stickee - I have been away and only just seen your work on the Oxford Vaccine Group page in response to my COI request. I am incredibly grateful to you for your help. I think you are quite right not to include the reference to influencing the Nepalese government decision - it is probably true, but I can't find corroboration. Do you know how I would now go about removing the comment at the top of the page that the article refers too much to primary sources (always supposing that you agree that this problem is now fixed?)

THANK YOU!!!
editHi Stickee!
1. I hope this is the correct channel & format to communicate with you.
2. At this early stage - I feel like a blind man, walking through an unfamiliar airport in a foreign country.
You've said things to me that I dont see until later, and then I'm not sure how to get back to that room where you said it.
I'm barely able to move around in Wiki's very manual, "code-driven" environment (which is MY problem; not Wiki's!), but I'm eager to get my bearings, as time passes!
At some point, you said to me something like, "Oh - you've already done that." I fear I might have caused you to waste your time. I'm sorry.
So instead of the blind guy in the airport - it might be better to compare me to someone who gets pulled out to sea, then panicking - risks injuring the life-guard who's trying to rescue him.
3. I've managed to get my fourth revision ("Pink Floyd" Spoken Word Article, EN) up onto Wikipedia. It's fun to hear my voice on such a far reaching platform.
I'm very grateful, and I could not have done this (what little there is so far) without your welcome cookies, support and guidance.
STICKEE - THANK YOU. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
4. I saw your bulletin board, but I felt more comfortable here - not for "social reasons", but for "tech reasons" - Your bulletin board has its own protocol. Might have taken me 10 minutes to figure it out.
But I was so eager to say "THANK YOU", that when I located this simpler "Message" form - I chose to come here as it was faster. :-)
5. At some later time, I will better learn all the protocols, conventions; and I hope to assimilate better into the community - on a technical level.
6. In the meantime - I invite you to check out my "wiki cheat sheet", just for my own personal use (web address NOT publicly broadcast). http://wiki.projectwasabi.com
This is my "training wheels," which I hope to discard very soon, and operate more directly ("Natively") within Wiki's system, without my own link page.
THANKS AGAIN STICKEE!

Hi Stickee
I am the webmaster who runs finder.com.au. Our website uses a CDN to serve images to our users which is hosted on findercdn.com.au. We received a phishing alert from google this morning which referenced the Bank of Melbourne logo which is also uploaded onto wikipedia.
Are you able to please upload a new version of the logo, not the one which is hosted on our CDN? We're in the process of deleting the file so the image won't be accessible shortly anyway, but any support from you to help us get our CDN off the suspicious list for Google/Norton Safe web would be greatly appreciated.

- Hi Jakehoward2015. Wikipedia only includes articles on people who are considered "notable". What exactly does "notable" mean? We have a guideline here. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. CRS Valid company and legal owner of CRS acronym by law according to US Govt
editCRS Chris Russo Solutions entered in to Wiki. Why does stickee take the legal owner of the acronym out. I believe if CRS can't be represented in a CRS wiki page then wiki doesn't have the legal right to have the page and it should only reference CRS an acronym owned by Chris A. Russo 400 Governor's Drive #38 WInthrop Ma, 02152. If you want the tax id number I will provide it. Don't want to raise a stink but CRS.com cant be CRS.com legally by law but they are federal agents so I don't feel like bothering with them just yet.Fancypantsorama (talk) 13:53, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Adding new polls
editHey there - when you do this, can you also please remember to do this? Thank you :) Timeshift (talk) 11:07, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Additionally, can you please reply to Tony's question to you here or preferably here? Tony says a once-a-month update isn't sufficient at this point of the cycle, and I added not only are we approx less than a week from the election officially being called, BludgerTrack has Labor leading the ever-lagging trend for the first time. Definitely need fortnightly or even weekly updates from this point in, monthly is just not sufficient as the current state of the graphs make it look nothing like BludgerTrack, but instead gives the very false impression that the Coalition are set to easily win the election. Timeshift (talk) 11:19, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Could you do us a favour - like BludgerTrack, can you change our graph's vertical scale, from 35-65, to 40-60? There's no single poll result outside of 40-60, and if it is changed to 40-60 it will have a positive effect on the thumbnail of essentially zooming in/giving the graph a higher level of detail. I've done an extremely crude rudimentary version in the temporary meantime. Thanks. Timeshift (talk) 22:54, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
So what do you think about increasing the frequency of updates during the election campaign? Or perhaps like as BludgerTrack does, you could create a new graph for the past 90 days? Thoughts? Timeshift (talk) 13:24, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
- I'll push out a new graph on Monday or Tuesday, which means 2 weeks since the last update. Stickee (talk) 03:39, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

2PP/primary aus election graphs
editHi - it's been over a fortnight since the last update, could you see if you can find the time to update them? Thanks! Timeshift (talk) 02:28, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
Considering it's the only displayed polling at Australian federal election, 2016 now and the election is less than two weeks away, is it possible if you could update the graph even more often? Ideally i'd like the graph to be updated after each released poll but I realise it may not be practically possible for you, but how about aiming for twice a week? Perhaps each Monday and Friday until the election? Only three more of them until the election. What do you think? Timeshift (talk) 06:03, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi! You deleted the satellite image from the article Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 and explained "all the 'cause of crash' related images presented in the article are content verified or provided by by the DSB and/or JIT. Probably best to keep it that way". As far as I understand JIT or DSB doesnt have monopoly to choose suitable images for the article. I dont agree with you because it is highly relevant with the content in the article it is placed in and was officialy presented at the press briefing by Russian MoD. This image is very well sourced and if you need sources for that just let me know. New deal for page patrollers
editHi Stickee,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Statistical numbers
editHi Stickee, first of all, thanks for [the link] you provided for the number of wikipedia templates in any given language. However, I found an inconsistency in the numbers that page provides. It gives me [229 transclusions] while I saw a list of 6,861 total NPOV pages [[2]] categorized by wikipedia. Do you have any idea? In addition, I need some more statistics like total number of admins and number of users in a language. Can I use the same link you had given before or are there other ways of knowing these things. Thanks again! rinduzahid(talk) 18:23, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Mpolat. You'll need to add together both NPOV and POV templates. Stickee (talk) 23:58, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- For number of admins, you can use {{NUMBERINGROUP:sysop}} like so: 850. Stickee (talk) 00:03, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Stickee for the info. Now I need more specific info. I need the number of admins and other users in POV articles. I will ratio them and see how much of the changes made by the admins in a POV article. I also want to look at the talk pages of those articles and try to find the same ratio. I will make this research in Turkish language. According to the tool you referred [| referred] I found that there are 302 articles with POV dispute. Is there an easy way of getting those numbers in all those pages? Thanks again! rinduzahid(talk) 07:07, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

I respect your opinion that my add should not be there but I object strenuously to your calling it vandalism. (rvv means "revert vandalism")
Your edit comment said that you thought my addition was consistent with existing provisions, just redundant and therefore not needed. How then can you call it vandalism? I take this accusation very seriously. "Vandalism" is an overt attempt to damage the encyclopedia!
Since we can't edit edit summaries, I ask you to make a dummy edit so you can post another summary, stating that your previous "rvv" was a mistake. I suggest "rv GF edit", where "GF" means good faith.
About the point itself, I will raise this at the talk page. Jeh (talk) 17:05, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- My apologies Jeh, didn't realise what rvv meant (I just thought it meant "revert") but now I know! Dummy edit done. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 23:50, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. A parting comment: Maybe you should step a little more carefully until you have a few thousand more edits under your belt... just a suggestion. Jeh (talk) 01:50, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not
editHi. I just wanted to explain the reasoning for my edit at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Of course I agree that a person may be notable and simply not have a WP article yet. However, as that sentence is about disambiguation pages in particular, only notable persons who already have WP articles should have entries on dab pages, not all notable persons. If a person, however notable he or she may be, does not yet have an article, they would show up as a redlink, which is discouraged at MOS:DABRL. Station1 (talk) 02:06, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Station1, if you post your rationale on the relevant talk page, I'll respond there. I don't really want to have a discussion here as it would exclude other editors from participating. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 00:43, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

editThank you for your interest in the article Whataboutism.
Since then, I've greatly expanded the page. Before [4]. After [5].
I've also added to the top of the article talk page, the number of attempts made by certain individuals to have the information disappeared, either through deletion attempts or merge attempts. [6]
Hopefully, now that the page represents a greater corpus of research, such attempts will decrease and or fail in the future.
What do you think of the article, after my research and expansion efforts ?
Hey Stickee, hope you're well. I've petitioned some additional changes to the Assurant article on the talk page to update the information after the company's realignment. I've got some positive feedback from Shortide, but I'm refraining from directly editing due to my COI. "Speedy keep"
editA word to the wise: Any time you say "speedy keep" and there isn't actually anything in a policy or guideline providing for the speedy keeping of that thing (e.g., attempts to delete policies at WP:MFD are subject to speedy keep, per deletion policy), all you do is signal to everyone else that the material at the XfD should almost certainly be deleted, and to ignore your rationale as bogus. Takes a while to learn that, but I would encourage that is be absorbed. Same goes for excessively emotional variations on this like "strongest possible keep". (Please don't perceive this as critical; I did exactly the same thing until a kind soul clued me in, too, back around 2010 or so.) — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 14:57, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

There is nothing unconstructive about my edits. Bellingcat's ties to NED and the UK government are well known. So too, the Wikileaks slogan.
editIf Wikipedia is to have any hope of enduring through the ages, it must be something other than a front for UK and US imperialist propaganda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.83.45.147 (talk) 01:09, 21 October 2020 (UTC) 204.83.45.147 (talk) 01:14, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

A few minutes ago, I had a moment of clarity, and I thought I needed to thank you.
Though I mainly add text and edit in the Wikipedia in Spanish, in the Wikipedia in English my edit count is 2770, and I have created a dozen of articles.
Thanks a lot.
