The brewery in Hood River, Oregon, 2013

Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom is a brewery based in Hood River, Oregon, United States.[1] The company was founded in 2007.[2]

Double Mountain Taproom

In 2016, Double Mountain Taproom opened in the Woodstock neighborhood of southeast Portland, Oregon,[3][4][5] marking the company's first expansion outside Hood River.[6] Prior to opening, Double Mountain made exterior and interior improvements to the building, which included a kitchen remodel and dining area expansion.[6] The satellite location does not have an on-site brewery. Unlike the Hood River taproom, the Woodstock restaurant has a full liquor license.[7]

One company representative said of Double Mountain's selection of the Woodstock neighborhood:

We weren't going to move into Brewery Row. We really wanted to find a community within Portland. The closest brewery [in Woodstock] is Gigantic. We looked at it as a community in itself. We really wanted the same feel as we have here in Hood River, and bring something new to the neighborhood. We're not trying to reinvent ourselves. We feel pretty welcomed. We haven't gotten much pushback. There's a New Seasons and Grand Central. But there's a lot of pride in that neighborhood. There's a camaraderie there, if you talk to the business owners. They want a place they can walk to. Which is really similar to here [in Hood River]—a lot of families and it's low-key...[7]

Reception

In 2015, Willamette Week said of the Hood River location in its "beer guide" called "Hood River Beer Escape":

...Double Mountain brings its knowledge of Wyeast yeast to bear on its char-crusted, New Haven-style, brick-fired pizzas that rank highly even among Portland's best. Pair the Jersey Pie—with hot capicola and Mama Lil's peppers—with one of a raft of seasonals, whether Devil's Kriek, Pale Death Belgian Imperial IPA, or an anise-richroot beer blend for kids.[8]
