Jana Marie Duggar (born January 12,[1] 1990) is an American television personality.[2] She is known for her appearances on TLC as part of the reality television shows 19 Kids and Counting (2008–2015) and Counting On (2015–2017).She also co-authored a book with her sisters Jill Michelle Dillard, Jessa Lauren Seewald, and Jinger Duggar Vuolo titled Growing Up Duggar: It's All About Relationships.[3]
Early life
Duggar was born in Tontitown, Arkansas as the second child and first daughter of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Ruark.[4] Jana and her twin brother John David were seen by their parents as a blessing from God in response to their decision to stop using birth control after a miscarriage of their elder sibling who was named Caleb Ryan, although the gender was unknown. Their parents then went on to have nineteen more children, totalling in ten boys and nine girls.[5] She was homeschooled as a child.
Career
Television
Jana Duggar started her career on the documentary of her family that was known as 14 Children and Pregnant Again (2004). This talked about their daily lives as Michelle Duggar was pregnant with Jana’s youngest brother. A follow up documentary known as Raising 16 Children was also aired on the Discovery Health Channel, this time focusing on the family with the arrival of the couple’s first daughter after six consecutive sons, but sixth daughter overall. Finally, another documentary was made about their cross-country road trip titled On The Road With 16 Children.[citation needed]
On September 29, 2008, TLC picked up a regular television series called 17 Kids and Counting (later known as 18 Kids and Counting and then 19 Kids and Counting) and this show ran for seven years until its cancellation in 2015 in the wake of her brother Josh’s scandals. TLC announced a short series of three episodes at the end of 2015, titled Jill and Jessa: Counting On, that focused specifically on Jana’s sisters’ lives but since then, Counting On has entailed the lives of Jana and most of their lives.[citation needed]
Personal life
On April 2, 2019, Jana confirmed that she had previous courtships with a number of men, but that none of them turned out to be as serious as to announce them publicly so therefore, the identities of these men are unknown.[citation needed]
Books
Duggar co-wrote the book Growing Up Duggar, published by Howard Books with her sisters Jill, Jessa and Jinger.[6] It was released on March 4, 2014. The book shares an inside look at what being a Duggar child is like as they talk about their parents' faith and perspectives on life.
