User talk:Cactus.man
If you leave a message for me here, I will probably reply on your talk page unless you ask me not to do so,
Trying to follow discussions between users can be important, and it becomes so much easier to work out who said what to whom, when and why if those discussions are available in one place.
If I leave a message, or a reply to you on your User talk page, I will reflect that here to keep the record of our discussions less fragmented.

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.

G8 speedy deletion of User talk:Kuldipem
If I'm not mistaken, doesn't WP:G8 explicitly exclude user talk pages? Thanks! ChaotıċEnby(talk · contribs) 13:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- @ User:Chaotic Enby, Oops, yes you're correct, looks like my mistake. More haste, less speed etc. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I have now restored the page. --Cactus.man ✍ 14:25, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
G4 deletion of Ayaz Sheikh
Hi, I saw you declined the G4 deletion of Ayaz Sheikh as the page was speed-deleted earlier. However, the page is just a copy of the recently deleted one following AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ayaz Sheikh, which was closed just a few hours ago. Should I open a second AfD, even it it's rather clear that the page is a recreation of a deleted one? Broc (talk) 16:47, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi User:Broc, thanks for your message.
- I understand your point and agree to some extent, but technically a new Speedy nomination falls afoul of the G4 criteria. I'm not a big fan of process wonkery and generally frown upon it, but the "rules" have evolved over time, usually for a good reason. So I think the best course of action in this instance is to take the article to AFD.
- Best wishes --Cactus.man ✍ 18:40, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Cactus.man. In the future I think you can accept a G4 in this situation, per Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#Repeated Speedy Deletions (or: is AfD sovereign?). Hope this clarifies things. –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:58, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Novem Linguae.thanks for the note. I still find the wording of the G4 criteria a bit confusing, no matter how many times I read it. To my simple brain, it veeers into the semantic complexity and impenetrability of logical thinking involving Double negatives. I'll ponder over this longer, but thanks to User:Thryduulf, whose commentary in that thread on the interpretation of the wording I found the most helpful.
- Thanks again. --Cactus.man ✍ 12:04, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

- Hello User:Madhav6763 your page Draft:Madhav (Founder & CEO) had been nominated and tagged for Speedy Deletion by User:SafariScribe under criteria G11 of the deletion policy. The policy allows for deletion at any point in time after a page has been nominated if the deletion is uncontested. You would have been notified on your userpage of the tagging for speedy deletion.
