Dave Marquess, better known by his stage name Bedrockk, is an American electronic musician, DJ, producer, and vocalist who currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.  He founded the record label DIRTY//CLEAN in January 2012, marked by his first EP release, Get Born. Drawing on a wide range of influences, from early delta blues and soul music, to modern club music and dancehall rhythms, Bedrockk has released three EP's and been featured on top music curators such as Billboard,[1] Complex,[2] Clash Magazine,[3] Thump (Vice),[4] and more.

Early life

[edit]

Bedrockk was born in Long Beach, CA.  He grew up surrounded by music and creativity, and was largely influenced by his grandfather, Irving Schwartz, a dancer and jazz man originally hailing from the Bronx, NY. Bedrockk moved to Colorado when he was 8 years old, and grew up there before attending college at University of Colorado at Boulder, where he fronted several bands that blended blues/soul music with electronic elements.  After college, he moved to Denver, CO, where he met Dawn Safari and Matthew Salazar, the artists and business partners who would be essential to the foundation of his record label, DIRTY//CLEAN.

Career

[edit]

Bedrockk's first release, Get Born was released on January 1, 2012 on Los Angeles/Denver based label DIRTY//CLEAN.  Following this EP, he released several singles over the following year, including the track “Faded” (released on UK label Deep Heads),[5] “Oceans Lifted”,[6] "Bottle Sippin" (released on American music journal Complex), and “Believe” (released on American music curator Run The Trap).[7]  Bedrockk's next EP, Black & White came out on DIRTY//CLEAN in February 2014.  This release was followed by his Ultra Violet EP that was released on DIRTY//CLEAN in July 2015.  This EP was the release that launched Bedrockk's career into the global music community, gaining support from top international curators including Clash Magazine, Thump (Vice), and AXS.[8]  Bedrockk's futuristic take on soulful electronic music has gained attention from listeners around the world.  His most recent releases include the magnetic house track "Body Moves" that came out on American label, Lavish in March 2017, as well as the dancehall-inflected single, “Show Me”, featuring Dominican vocalist, Lyrique, that was released in March 2016, and premiered on American media curator, Billboard.
