YNW BSlime's Notability
[edit]Before creating the article I saw that the article previously went to AfD where the decision was delete. A lot of the sources in this version of the article were available before the deletion so in order to avoid a potential CSD G4, I have created below a source table using the best sources available to hold as evidence of his passing of WP:GNG :
Source assessment table: prepared by User:Célestin Denis
| ||||
Source | Independent? | Reliable? | Significant coverage? | Count source toward GNG? |
---|---|---|---|---|
Pitchfork - November 22, 2019 | It's an album review by Pitchfork, it not being independent would make a scandal. | Per WP:A/S | Lengthy article discussing his album Baby Goat with background on him. | ✔ Yes |
XXL - October 25, 2019 | Not listed as a promotion. | Per WP:A/S | Article discussing his background as a rapper, the music he's released, and going into way more detail than the average announcement piece. | ✔ Yes |
Rap Reviews - December 10, 2019 | Another album review if it wasn't independent there would be a serious issue. | Per WP:A/S | Describes in specific detail information about the rapper's background and his music. | ✔ Yes |
This table may not be a final or consensus view; it may summarize developing consensus, or reflect assessments of a single editor. Created using {{source assess table}}. |
There also exists numerous pieces in other reliable publications such as HotNewHipHop. A point I saw being made in the previous AfD was that the reliable coverage existed as a result of YNW BSlime being YNW Melly's younger brother, a case of WP:INHERIT. Although this might have been the case in the beginning with XXL and HotNewHipHop calling him "YNW Melly's younger brother", a change in the approach can be observed in the past years with magazines starting to simply address him as YNW BSlime, implying that there is independent notability. He is not getting coverage for being YNW Melly's brother, he is getting coverage because he's making music of his own. How many famous musicians came to fame due to famous relative, should we delete their article? Célestin Denis (talk) 16:31, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
