Template:Pronoun editnotice
The subject of this biography uses, and should be referred to with, the pronouns {{{1}}}. Please do not change these pronouns without a consensus on the talk page. For more information, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography § Gender identity. |
Usage
[edit]This template may be used as an editnotice to alert editors that the subject of the article goes by certain gender pronouns. It is intended for biographies of transgender or non-binary people. See MOS:GENDERID for the relevant guidelines.
The template directs users to the article's talk page to gain consensus rather than pronoun-warring, in the hope that this will divert some amount of mainspace disruption. If there is a concern that this will do more harm than good, set the talk-link
parameter to no
to suppress that sentence.

Parameters
[edit]The first parameter in this table is required and the template will fail without it. All the other parameters are optional.
Parameter(s) | Values | Notes |
---|---|---|
The pronoun or pronouns that the subject goes by | For example, "they/them" |
A URL for a source showing usage or preference by the subject | |
A link to a discussion among editors concluding that these are the correct pronouns. | Just the link, not surrounding square brackets or pipe.
Useful especially for when no one crystal-clear source exists for the pronouns being used, but rather it has been inferred by editors. |
If set to yes , will refer to the subject in the past tense.
A single set of pronouns used consistently in the article. | For cases where a subject takes multiple sets of pronouns, but an editoral decision has been made to use one in particular. |
If set to no , suppresses the sentence "Please do not change these pronouns without a consensus on the talk page."
