Not sure who made this

[edit]

But it's badly implemented. Attorney General of Brazil includes this template, but it displays as "Attorney General of the Americas", an office that has never existed and is unhelpful in describing what it should be talking about: Attorneys General in the Americas (or, more helpfully, in North and South America separately). — LlywelynII 01:23, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

it's really bad and not that helpful 104.219.132.208 (talk) 04:35, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Broken teemplate

StarTrekker. The recent edits to the template seem to have broken multiple links. Currently it provides

It's the only one I noticed but there may be problems elsewhere. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 00:24, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any problems. Where exactly are the issues?★Trekker (talk) 13:08, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
After reviewing both versions I see that neither is great. Breaking it down. Both versions have a title "List of airlines of the Americas" which provides a link to Americas. A violation of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#What generally should not be linked.
In the top box I really don't think that there are going to be a lot of "List of X of the United States and Canada". I'm less sure of "List of X of Latin America and the Caribbean" and "List of X of Central America and the Caribbean" but they don't seem common.
Plus where is the link for "List of X of South America"? The thing is that Latin America does not always include all of South America (see Latin America#Contemporary definitions) but includes parts of North America (Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean).
Both versions have links to North and South America and they both link to List of airlines of the Americas. All the other links are red but why not have links to Category:Lists of airlines of North America, Category:Lists of airlines of Central America, Category:Lists of airlines of South America, and ategory:Lists of airlines of the Caribbean? Lots of things aren't likely to exist for all regions, but there are enough articles for all of these regions that I think there is advantage to have them.★Trekker (talk) 17:50, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
