From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My user name is k72ndst, but my real name is Kevin C. Fitzpatrick. I usually contribute to New York City items and Americans from the early 20th Century. Here is my author bio:

The author of A Journey into Dorothy Parker’s New York from Roaring Forties Press is Kevin C. Fitzpatrick, a New York writer and Web site producer. Fitzpatrick is the president of the Dorothy Parker Society, which he founded in 1999. He produces the award-winning dorothyparker.com which he launched in 1998.

Fitzpatrick was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1966, but spent his childhood in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Summit, New Jersey; Raleigh, North Carolina; and St. Louis, Missouri. He is a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University.

Fitzpatrick has had a 15-year media career in New York. A former newspaper copy editor and television news producer, he has produced close to 75 Web sites for a wide range of clients. As a freelance writer he has written for numerous trade publications.

In 1998 Fitzpatrick started the research and writing for what would become dorothyparker.com, the first website exclusively devoted to the life of the author, wit and poet Dorothy Parker. Fitzpatrick researched Parker’s life and her former homes and haunts. He photographed more than 50 locales tied to her legend.

In 1999 Fitzpatrick took the Web site from the online world to the real world with the first gathering of the new Dorothy Parker Society. The group meets annually at Parkerfest at the Algonquin Hotel to celebrate. The membership totals more than three thousand members worldwide. It has been featured in the New York Times, New York Sun, USA Today, National Geographic Traveler and The (London) Observer.

Fitzpatrick led the way for Dorothy Parker’s birthplace in West End, New Jersey, to be named a National Literary Landmark by Friends of Libraries USA. He oversaw the creation of a bronze memorial plaque that was unveiled in August 2005 in West End.

In conjunction with the Algonquin Hotel, Fitzpatrick leads walking tours of the former Algonquin Round Table homes and haunts in Manhattan.

A Journey into Dorothy Parker’s New York is his first book. A work in progress is A Journey into the Algonquin Round Table’s New York, also from Roaring Forties Press.

He and his wife live in Manhattan and Shelter Island, New York.
