Wikipedia Status
[edit]- Maynard first learned about Wikipedia at a mid-day luncheon meeting of the Boston Vegan Meetup in Harvard Square, where another vegan told him about this great new free-content online encyclopedia that had been created to complement Nupedia. He became one of the earlier users of Wikipedia long before he began microediting articles, typically punctuation on articles he read for the purposes of his work at the Harvard Medical School.
- Maynard is a Senior Editor II (or Most Pluperfect Labutnum), and has been a Wikipedian since early February 2007 (20 February 2007) and spends far TOO MUCH time on it. Maynard has been a Wikipedian Editor now for over fifteen years. He has made over 31,080 edits so far (more than 2000 edits per year and about 200 edits/month and 5.45 edits/day - which may not be that many in absolute terms, but far more than most registered 'Wikipedian editors' do on Wikipedia!). These >4200 accepted Wikipedia articles (plus some that have NOT been accepted) can be broken down in various into categories of articles, or types of articles, or types of contributions. That's not here because super-editors thought it should not appear in my profile.
- Maynard has now earned and thus now holds all badges prior to Veteran Editor IV, Tutnum of the Encyclopedia badges and ribbons, given when he completed each stage along the way, determined by (a) total number of Wikipedia edits and (b) total time elapsed since first qualifying as a Wikipedia editor.
- Maynard completed the six-week WIKISOO 'School of Open' Wikipedia article writing course, earning both the WikiSOO Burba Badge and the WikiSOO Signator Badge below. His participating in this excellent Writing Wikipedia Articles course, focusing on open learning movements, covers ground he's already studied on his own AND much more new content.
Metrics for Wikipedia editors may not be fully automated, so one's individually gathering data on one's work can be challenging.
One's counting the number of articles, graphics contributed, or other work done on any of the Wikipedia projects can be daunting for long-time Wikipedians.
And once data is gathered, "it get's old" as soon as one begins another project or set of projects.
What has been automated is the number of edits and the number of files uploaded. We now need a program pull that data across the projects into one's userpages.
How about this?
