April 2023

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Justlettersandnumbers. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User:Helper201 that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. In case you're wondering, it's definitely not OK to describe a good-faith attempt to improve the encyclopaedia as "uninformed attempted vandalism" – if I'd seen it sooner I might have arranged a holiday from editing for you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 12:40, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You must know about the growing pressure for and campaign to restrict high-end editing wikiprivileges to those with certified, verified minimum levels of intelligence. So, thanks ever so much for your above contribution to that cause (including threatening and bullying); I submitted it as part of the package to illustrate how pressing that need has become. Cheers, keep up the excellent work! :-) Albin-Counter (talk) 19:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The way you address Justlettersandnumbers here is also unacceptable. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:10, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for making or trying to make Wikipedia a more reliable information source, and also for providing guidance or at least a further data point. :-) <hands conjoined emoticon> Albin-Counter (talk) 10:53, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Post Office scandal

[edit]

I've seen your work on the above. I appreciate how emotional the subject will be for those directly involved. You'll appreciate that such levels of emotion can make it difficult to edit dispassionately and with objectivity. You only have to look at the talkpages to see that. Can I ask that you take a look at Wikipedia:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. I think you'll find the advice helpful. Regards. KJP1 (talk) 06:25, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. You will have noticed I'd sent you a public "Thanks" previously too, a day or two before your message above.
I have read that section now.
Please look at [[1]], specifically the looong section "Bishop of London". I play a very minor role within, two contributions out of 100+; I believe WP:DUE applies, and there's no reason to omit references to her applying to become Bishop of London (that she was rejected is far less important).
I was tagged in by User:A.D.Hope because I was correctly seen by him as siding with his edit-skirmish adversary User:Martinevans123.
Who, in your opinion, is in the right? What courses of action were open to me? I rationally think Hope is baiting i.e., trolling, which is why after two responses I stopped replying. But I'm not sure.
I spend little time on WP; usually on drier matters which are more objective.
Thanks. Albin-Counter (talk) 03:23, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Martineveans123 isn't my "edit-skirmish adversary"; that implies a level of antagonism which simply isn't there. I do find their frequent jokes a little frustrating when I'm trying to find a consensus, which I've mentioned, but we're certainly not adversaries.
I tagged yourself and Martin into the "Bishop of London" discussion because you were the two involved editors, having reverted my removal of that content. I do my best to be neutral when tagging people. The discussion has grown remarkably long, but that sometimes happens. A.D.Hope (talk) 10:59, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
