Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 16:27, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was only creating a page for the magazine I work for to familiarize myself with the editing functions of Wikipedia. I didn't intend to make the page promotional or an advertisement, which seems to be what I was blocked for. We are the largest magazine in the logistics segment, we don't need to advertise. I was just figuring out how to source the information I had put on the page when I was blocked. Many other magazines and publications have non-promotional entires on Wikipedia. That is all I was trying to create. The staff of my magazine are considered experts in the logistics and supply chain field. I wanted to create a page for our magazine, and then branch out into the industry pages to make edits if necessary.

Too close to your original name. Plus see below. — Daniel Case (talk) 17:21, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

It only says that creating a page for your own organization is not recommended. Nowhere does it say it is against the rules. I wasn't done yet. Please at least let me finish the page before you decide if I'm trying to advertise. Inboundlogistics (talk) 17:19, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

One open unblock at a time, please (this would be declined in any event because it doesn't address the username issue. — Daniel Case (talk) 17:21, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 17:21, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will edit my article to make sure it is 100% non-promotional. That was always my original intention, I just hadn't finished yet. After that I will move on and assist with other articles on topics that I have knowledge of.

Decline reason:

The proposed name is fine, but you have not addressed the conflict of interest questions above. It may be a good idea for you to contribute in other areas first, then maybe come back to this in the future. As it is, it seems you will return immediately to the promotional material which lead to your block. Kuru (talk) 20:13, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. My original article was deleted anyway, so it has become a non-issue. I will just apply my knowledge to other logistics-related content where I can. But first I need my block to be lifted.

Just to double check, if you edit logistic-related articles you will not link to your company's website, correct?--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 22:25, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct, Ponyo. I am sorry for the delay, the message notification went into my spam and I'd assumed my request had been ignored. I am an editor by profession, not a marketing professional. When editing logistics-related content, I don't see a need to link to my magazine's website. If you are going to find a reason to turn my unblock down again, please just delete this account.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:11, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request is in. Thanks Ponyo.
