Greetings. I just started the Wikipedia:Image recreation requests project, and I thought you might be interested. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I got your name from the list at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Graphic Artists.) Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 03:13, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)

Sure, I'll drop by when I'm in the mood to do some doodling. Unfortunately I can only access the web at work, and my tools are on my laptop. PhilHibbs | talk 10:35, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Graphics Lab

[edit]

I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastik talk 02:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Attack on america big.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Attack on america big.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Halo_jones.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Halo_jones.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:46, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on this page, by 209.53.181.112 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because the article is a page created primarily to disparage its subject or a biography of a living person that is controversial in tone and unsourced, where there is no neutral point of view version in the history to revert to. (CSD G10).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting the article, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate the article itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:53, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I restored the redirects. I found your argument perfectly reasonable, and the existence of the term on the article page sealed the deal. — Scientizzle 16:21, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Kung fu master mame.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Judge_dredd.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. No, Wikipedia has whole website duplicates, that do not link back here. They copy the very framework of the site. Anyways that information is totaly free, and we have a statement somewhere that says something about that. But it's the FREE encyclopedia, and only the logo is trademark.--Kkrouni/Ккроуни/ΚκρΩυνι 16:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that doesn't help. My example is of someone who doesn't want to clone the database, just wants to link to an article in order to conform with the GFDL (the link provides attribution to the authors), but then the article is deleted and so the content is no longer attributed and so the GFDL is violated. — PhilHibbs | talk 09:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PUNC

[edit]

I don't think WP:PUNC says that commas should go outside quotation marks every single time. That rule only applies when quoting what somebody has said. It doesn't mean that they also have to go outside the quote marks around titles of books, films, articles etc.. Richard75 19:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well the title of the book doesn't contain a full stop or a comma, so it's misleading to put one in there, I think that's the principle. Accuracy over style. — PhilHibbs | talk 20:37, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well OK then, I don't want to mislead anyone. Richard75 18:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And as to the "I am the law," I had a suspicion that the comma was in the song title but I checked the article on the album and didn't see it there - is there really a comma in the song title? — PhilHibbs | talk 20:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, that was a mistake on my part, rushing an edit. I have changed it back. Sorry about that. Richard75 18:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Gun fu

[edit]

An editor has nominated Gun fu, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gun fu and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:59, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kung fu master mame.png

Thank you for uploading Image:Kung fu master mame.png. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Image source problem with Image:Feathers Hotel Ludlow.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Feathers Hotel Ludlow.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Sandy Petersen in May 2004.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sandy Petersen in May 2004.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Proposed deletion of Gun fu

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gun fu, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Seems be based entirely on original research, with no reliable sources that state that "Gun Fu" is a genuine genre.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. magnius (talk) 11:42, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Wasp T12 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnotable fictional mobile phone from Nathan Barley tv series. Nothing to merge as no sources and an unlikely search term so no need to leave a redirect here.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dylanfromthenorth (talk) 01:58, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Wasp T12, an article that you created, for deletion. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:26, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
