I came to this courtesy of a COI spam mess from the creator and his socks (that problem is obviously not there in this one), but I was left wondering why this should be separate from Shakti. Can you take a look please? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:23, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Spaceman, Adi Parashakti or Adi Shakti or Mahadevi denotes the Supreme Goddess in Shaktism. Though Devi or Shakti may also denote the Supreme Godddess, they are used as common nouns also. Shakti is power; it may refer to various shaktis (female powers) of gods e.g. Matrikas (The matrika Maheshwari as shakti of Shiva) or consorts e.g. Parvati (though also given the epithet Maheshwari; she is different from the matrika) as shakti of Shiva; similarly Varahi v/s Bhudevi as shakti of Varaha. Shakti also denotes kundalini-shakti or ichha-shakti etc.Redtigerxyz Talk 12:45, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, there seems to be a lot of overlap within the three articles leading to confusion for the reader -- Shakti (while I understand your point on the common noun, it seems more focused on the proper), Adi Parashakti, and Mahadevi. Anyways, I'll leave it be for subject matter experts to handle. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 03:09, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Satyanarayan puja

[edit]

Hello Red Tiger, I would appreciate it if you can have look at this article Satyanarayan Puja. I recently added sourced information that said that in Bengal Satya Narayan and Satya Pir puja were related. Another editor reverted that edit citing that the reference I had used was from a book published 100 years ago. Let me know you thoughts on the matter. Citations question for Kali article

[edit]

Hi Redtigerxyz, I'm looking at overhauling the citations for the Kali article and wondering what format to use. It's been many years since I brought an article to GA status, and I'm wondering what is the best approach here to save the GA status for the article. I know many ways are acceptable. Would you recommend Harvard, or another? Ease of use is a consideration. Is there a tool that will create a Harvard formatted reference? Is there a newer approach that I'm not aware of? thanks, First Light (talk) 09:51, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First Light; Generally in GAs, I use in the format "Apte (2004),? p. 720" in plain text (without templates). However, in the article I am working on currently - Chhinnamasta, I used {{harvtxt}}, but for FA hopes. I do not know of a tool for easy referencing.--Redtigerxyz Talk 15:29, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I'm thinking of going with Harvard, as I've used that before. And thanks for the improvements to the article, including digging up that long-lost verifiable (and very good) material in the etymology section. First Light (talk) 16:06, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Aren't they essentially one and the same? Vensatry (talk) 06:29, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vensatry, Yes. They are the same. However I think two articles are needed: 1. about the deity Barbarika - integrate everything about Khatushyamji's local legend here 2. about his chief temple at Khatu/Khatushayamji; part of this info is available in Khatushyamji. --Redtigerxyz Talk 08:49, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Barbarika tale comes from a folklore; there's no mention about him in the unabridged version of the epic. Given that Khatushyamji is a manifestation of him, can't we have both under one roof? Vensatry (talk) 09:10, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Vensatry, Barbarika comes from Skanda Purana; while Khatushyamji tale, which is similar to the Purana in some aspects, is folklore. I suggest a model like Iravan; where most of the current Khatushyamji is merged in Barbarika; however an article about Khatushyamji's chief temple (which is also covered in the current Khatushyamji article) needs to be retained.--Redtigerxyz Talk 09:22, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That'll do! Vensatry (talk) 09:30, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In the movie Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Robin Williams gave the voice for Garuda artifact.

The subject looks interesting. Can you help to take Garuda to GA and then FA level? --Rainbow Archer (talk) 07:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC

Rainbow Archer, I can help; but can not take the lead in this.--Redtigerxyz Talk 08:52, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see you are active again. I found this article created by a newcomer and thought of expanding it. I am seeing some book references; like the ref 1 & 2 used in article, that mention Kalanemi as a minor character in some war between suras and asuras. He was then killed by Vishnu. But I can't figure out what war this was? Was it the one after the Sagarmanthan and before the Mohini avatar? They mention that Indra killed Bali in this war and Bali was later resurrected by Shuracharya.
Other books also say that Kalanemi later reincarnated as Kamsa, Krishn'a uncle and again got slayed by a Vishnu-avatar.
I have added info about a certan Kalanemi from Ramayana. But am not sure if they are linked or what. Can you sort out the article? Or at least guide me? Pinging @Nvvchar: as well. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 05:11, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. Thanks Kailash29792. However, User:Vensatry, I generally do not oppose or support at FLC due to lack of expertise; I give minor comments or do image reviews. This FLC does not need that. Always available to review an article. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:14, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Redtiger. I was happy to make a few proofing changes to Chhinnamasta, but for a variety of reasons I'm not up to doing a complete review. I'm happy, though, that you are still going strong. If am not mistaken, Vrushali finds little mention in original Mahabharata as quite a minor character. Correct me if am wrong and if not then isn't this article undue probably just coming from other fictional adaptations like tv shows and novels and such? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 08:40, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I don't think the Mahabharata mentions the names of any of Karna's wives; however, she finds a mention in Shivaji Sawant's Mrityunjay, which is a fan fiction on Karna. Vensatry (talk) 10:47, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dharmadhyaksha and Vensatry, MBh does not name Karna's wives; though his sons are named. Stri Parva does record her sorrow, she is unnamed. I suggest moving Vrushali to Wife of Karna or Wives of Karna and include various names given to her/them like Vrushali, Supriya, Urvi (Karna's Wife Novel). What do you suggest? --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:16, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Redtigerxyz, I think a merger (with Karna) would be more than enough. Apart from the fact that he had more than one wife, there's nothing that we can conclude. Vensatry (talk) 16:24, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:24, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week seeking nominations (and a new facilitator)

[edit]

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages. Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

[edit]

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Peer review newsletter #1

[edit]

Introduction

[edit]

Hello to all! I do not intend to write a regular peer review newsletter but there does occasionally come a time when those interested in contributing to peer review should be contacted, and now is one. I've mailed this out to everyone on the peer review volunteers list, and some editors that have contributed to past discussions. Apologies if I've left you off or contacted you and you didn't want it. Next time there is a newsletter / mass message it will be opt in (here), I'll talk about this below - but first:

  • THANK YOU! I want to thank you for your contributions and for volunteering on the list to help out at peer review. Thank you!
  • Peer review is useful! It's good to have an active peer review process. This is often the way that we help new or developing editors understand our ways, and improve the quality of their editing - so it fills an important and necessary gap between the teahouse (kindly introduction to our Wikiways) and GA and FA reviews (specific standards uphelp according to a set of quality criteria). And we should try and improve this process where possible (automate, simplify) so it can be used and maintained easily.

Updates

[edit]
It can get quite lonely tinkering with peer review...
With a bit of effort we can renovate the place to look like this!

Update #1: the peer review volunteers list is changing

[edit]

The list is here in case you've forgotten: WP:PRV. Kadane has kindly offered to create a bot that will ping editors on the volunteers list with unanswered reviews in their chosen subject areas every so often. You can choose the time interval by changing the "contact" parameter. Options are "never", "monthly", "quarterly", "halfyearly", and "annually". For example:

  • {{PRV|JohnSmith|History of engineering|contact=monthly}} - if placed in the "History" section, JohnSmith will receive an automatic update every month about unanswered peer reviews relating to history.
  • {{PRV|JaneSmith|Mesopotamian geography, Norwegian fjords|contact=annually}} - if placed in the "Geography" section, JaneSmith will receive an automatic update every yearly about unanswered peer reviews in the geography area.

We can at this stage only use the broad peer review section titles to guide what reviews you'd like, but that's better than nothing! You can also set an interest in multiple separate subject areas that will be updated at different times.

Update #2: a (lean) WikiProject Peer review

[edit]

I don't think we need a WikiProject with a giant bureaucracy nor all sorts of whiz-bang features. However over the last few years I've found there are times when it would have been useful to have a list of editors that would like to contribute to discussions about the peer review process (e.g. instructions, layout, automation, simplification etc.). Also, it can get kind of lonely on the talk page as I am (correct me if I'm wrong) the only regular contributor, with most editors moving on after 6 - 12 months.

So, I've decided to create "WikiProject Peer review". If you'd like to contribute to the WikiProject, or make yourself available for future newsletters or contact, please add yourself to the list of members.

Update #3: advertising

[edit]

We plan to do some advertising of peer review, to let editors know about it and how to volunteer to help, at a couple of different venues (Signpost, Village pump, Teahouse etc.) - but have been waiting until we get this bot + WikiProject set up so we have a way to help interested editors make more enduring contributions. So consider yourself forewarned!

And... that's it!

I wish you all well on your Wikivoyages, Tom (LT) (talk) 00:31, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ramayana navbox

[edit]

So the navbox should not contain any film version of the Ramayana? Would a separate navbox for film versions suffice? --Kailash29792 (talk) 18:47, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kailash29792, In modern versions, only Ramayan (1986 TV series) is considered a significant version that is referred to now and then by many scholars; significant to influence other works. The template also lists only the most important ancient versions; all not works inspired by the epic.--Redtigerxyz Talk 18:53, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear, I would like to ask you a question. According to the Mahamayuri article, "Her origins are said to derive from an Indian goddess of the same name. ". Thanks Cape Diamond MM for the respect. As a fellow wikipedian, I respect you too. As far as I know, there is no goddess called Mahamayuri in Hinduism. Mahamayuri is paralleled with the Hindu Sarasvati as a wisdom goddess and equated with Manasa as protector against snake bites (her primary purpose). Image of Devi Parvati

[edit]

Respected Sir/Ma'am Thank you for inspiring thousands including me. I admire your knowledge. I want to say that the infobox image of the article 'Parvati' would be better with the painting 'File:A goddess probably Parvati as Durga riding on a lion present Wellcome V0045026.jpg'. I know the painting depicts others like Lord Ganesha, but Devi Parvati is can be easily distinguished.

The painting depicts her perfectly, as she is shown powerful but also tender. Parvati is being welcomed by other women, this shows her status as the one of the most powerful goddesses. Ganesha, on her lap , symbolises her motherhood. She is the Mother goddess.

The sculpture is beautiful. It is perfect for the iconography section. It depicts Parvati alone with her perfect iconography. I admire it, but to represent Parvati, a painting would be better as shows details. 245CMR (talk) 03:16, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

245CMR The image of Parvati as suggested by you has many elements including Ganesha, women attendants and a gana. Generally, we go for images that depict the subject alone. However, I disagree on inclusion of Ashokasundari in infobox who is at best a regional goddess only told in a single Purana as a mainstream list of children; most refs only mention 2 children [12]. Amar Chitra Katha is not a WP:RS. Please read the policy about RS. --Redtigerxyz Talk 11:15, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I recently read Uma – Parvati, Hindu Mythology – Vedic and Puranic by William J. Wilkins. The book is used as a reference many times in the article .

In the book, Ganga is clearly mentioned as the first born of Himavan and the elder sister of Parvati.

Most legends including Ramayana and Skandapuran, mention Ganga as the first born of Himavan. So can I include her on the infobox? 245CMR (talk) 05:07, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A question by 245CMR

[edit]

Hello sir, sorry to interrupt your time. I wanted to know a question about Prajapati Daksha. In the Puranic Encyclopaedia by Vettam Mani , Daksha's wife is described to be Asikni (Panchajani or Virani) with whom he had 1000 sons and 16 or 60 daughters. But in another line Asikni is described to be Prasuti (daughter of Manu) with whom he had 24 daughters. I wanted to know whether Panchajani and Prasuti are same with different backstories in different Puranas. Other sources like Roshen Dalal's Asikni is Daksha's wife who is also known as Prasuti and Virani. .💠245CMR💠.👥📜 15:06, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A Mystery finally solved!

[edit]

Sir, earlier I asked you a question regarding Daksha's wife. But now I have an idea. Pls completely read this before going to the video.

Though this story from a video, but it provides references to various Puranas. Here's the video

Daksha is born twice In his first birth, he married Prasuti and produced 24 daughters including Sati.

In his second birth, He married Asikni (Panchajani, Virini) and produced 1000s sons and 60 daughters including Aditi, Diti, Danu, etc.

But, if we take reference to Vettam Mani and Dalal, then Daksha has only one wife. Prasuti and Asikni are the same with different backstories in different text.

What he wrote is somewhat like this:

Daksha born from Brahma marries Asikni and has many children. Last of them being Sati, wife of Shiva. Later with her, he produced Haryasvas and Sabalasvas (his sons). Later he again produces 60 daughters including Aditi with her. Now, I request you to help in deciding what to include in the infobox.

The Lead of Lakshmi article

[edit]

@Redtigerxyz: The entire lead looks like a user's personal POV rather than a neutral veiw. There are multiple problems with the lead of this article:

  • Akshara is not a widely used epithet of Lakshmi and shouldn't be used in the lead. Almost all references in this article, states the goddess as Lakshmi or Shree. Eg. Coulter, Charles Russell; Turner, Patricia (4 July 2013). Encyclopedia of Ancient Deities. ISBN 9781135963903., "Britannica"., David Kinsley (19 July 1988). Hindu Goddesses: Visions of the Divine Feminine in the Hindu Religious Tradition. University of California Press. ISBN 978-0-520-90883-3..
  • The references provided to support Lakshmi as "the" mother goddess are not sufficient (out of the three, only one is direct to its point). The first reference mention that Lakshmi is called "mata" but there are direct statements supporting that is "THE" mother goddess. The second reference only states that any goddess of Hinduism is can be worshipped as a mother. The third reference is acceptable but it clearly states that she is worshipped by the Sri sect of Southern India Vaishnavism.

This Lakshmi or Shri as the mother goddess played a very important part in some of the Vaishnavism sects of India, particularly in the Vaishnavism of the South. The Shri sect of Vaishnavism, as the name itself will indicate, laid great stress on this mother aspect of the Vishnu-shakti. Just as in our domestic life the mother stands somewhat like an intermediary between the father and the son, so does Lakshmi stand as an intermediary between God and the Jivas (beings), making the former compassionate and merciful to the latter and the latter dutiful and devoted to the former.

"The" Mother Goddess should be changed into only Mother Goddess
  • Avatars which are not 100% accepted should not be added to the lead (Sri Bhu Durga are only seen in Southern India not in other parts like North, West and East). The article Parvati doesn't mention any avatars in the lead. Rukmini and Sita are widely accepted, so they can be added.
  • Again, Lion as her mount should not be included in the infobox for the same reason. It is mentioned in the body of the article already. This situation is just like adding regional children (Jyoti, Manasa, Andhaka, etc.) of Shiva in the infobox.

Regarding Ammavaru page

[edit]

Hi Redtigerxyz, Ammavaru is a Telugu and Kannada name for Mother Goddess or Adi Parashakti. It is better to redirect to "Mother Goddess #Hinduism" or "Adi Parashakti". It is similar to Tamil variant Amman. A separate article for this is unnecessary. - MRRaja001 (talk) 16:19, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:MRRaja001, I will keep it separate. Ammavaru is intrinsically linked to the tale of the three eggs, giving birth to Trimurti. She also has unique mythology; some tale about 7 parrots etc. Essentially, She is a regional goddess sometimes equated with the Tamil Ankalamma. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:34, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Redtigerxyz: I don't know who told you this but the term "Ammavaru" or "Amma" is used as the local language term for "mother" in South India. It is generally used for all goddesses For example: Lakshmi Ammavaru or Parvati Ammavaru - which simply means "Mother Lakshmi" or "Mother Parvati". Similarly in North India the terms like "Maa Lakshmi" or "Maa Parvati" or "Maa Durga" is used, which also means the same thing. I can give many local names for you like Peddamma, Nadeedi Gangamma, Nagalamma, Akkadevathalu, Maremma, Ankalamma, Dandumaremma, Poleramma, Kanakadurgamma, amba or Ammavaru or Ammathali. A separate article for this is unnecessary. - MRRaja001 (talk) 16:44, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Redtigerxyz: All these deities are local deities, which are other names of Sapthamatrikas or directly Lakshmi or Parvati. If you're interested you can create articles for all local deities. But its better to redirect all these local deities to Saptamatrikas or Adi Parashakti. Its just my opinion, Thank you. - MRRaja001 (talk) 16:53, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) User:MRRaja001, I agree with you that Ammavaru literally means "Mother". Ammavaru as the Primal Mother is also linked to Adi Shakti. Ammavaru Telugu folk tale, [13], parrots tale. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:54, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Redtigerxyz: Yeah that's what i am saying. Thank you for understanding. - MRRaja001 (talk) 17:06, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding removal of content on Lakshmi

[edit]

Hi Redtigerxyz, I know why you removed this not only Mahishasura Mardhini but according to Lakshmi Tantra - Lakshmi is Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati (forms that came from her incarnation form of Durga). You can go through this from page 19 to 24 and beyond (if you want only about this go directly to page 23). Goddess Lakshmi is clearly saying it here. Thanks. - MRRaja001 (talk) 04:38, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:MRRaja001, Mahalakshmi refers to two goddesses - 1. Lakshmi "the Great Lakshmi" - as the Supreme Goddess - Vishnu-priya Lakshmi - in Vaishnavism 2. Mahalakshmi of the Shakta Devi Mahatmya - one of three Supreme forms of Adi Shakti. The Pal and Sivananda clearly mention the second Devi Mahatmya tradition; Deccan Herald quotes a non-reliable local researcher; not a scholar (which is not a RS). Pal and Sivananda use "Mahalakshmi" linking her explicitly the presiding goddess of the 2nd chapter of the Devi Mahatmya; not Vishnu-priya Lakshmi. The iconography of the eighteen-armed, Mahishasura mardini Mahalakshmi (identified with Durga) of the Devi Mahatmya was given; an article is of Vishnu-priya Lakshmi, not the eighteen-armed Shakta goddess. In the Pancharatra text Lakshmi Tantra, Lakshmi is the Supreme goddess - Mahalakshmi "the Great Lakshmi" - source of all goddesses and the universe. I am okay mentioning that "in Vaishnava texts like the Lakshmi Tantra, she is the Supreme Goddess."--Redtigerxyz Talk 16:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Accordingly i added content on Lakshmi page. - MRRaja001 (talk) 14:01, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Durga page

[edit]

Hi Redtigerxyz, After reading Lakshmi Tantra book i can to a conclusion that we should remove Shiva and Vishnu from the infobox of Durga page. Because in Lakshmi Tantra Goddess Lakshmi is directly saying that she is Durga, Mahashasuramardhini, Mahakali and so on and also as Wife of Vishnu. Since it is a Pancharatra text we cannot take it litely. Its better to remove Vishnu and Shiva both from the infobox in order to maintain the neutrality. What do you say? - MRRaja001 (talk) 13:58, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001: I think we have discussed this earlier also... If this is the situation, then infobox should not exist. According to Rama sect, it is Sita who is primary goddess... The Brahmavaivarta Purana mentions Radha as the Adi shakti.....Why only Durga? spouses..children....siblings should be removed from Lakshmi as she is associated with Indra, Yama, Prajapati, Ganesha, etc. Same thing applies for all gods and goddesses including Ganesha, Kartikeya, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva and Saraswati.

Regards,.💠245CMR💠.👥📜 08:26, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@245CMR: Puranas are different and Agamas or Tantra shastras are different understand the difference first. I am not talking about Puranas here. I am quoting Lakshmi Tantra here which is a Pancharatra text. Your arguments doesn't apply here. Please don't bring your logics everywhere. No one accepts Parvati as Vishnu's wife and Lakshmi as Shiva's wife. Durga is worshipped differently in different parts of India. We should take what our core scriptures talk. There are Shaiva Agamas, Shakta Agamas and Vaishnava Agamas. Is there anything written about Radha in Pancharatra agamas? - MRRaja001 (talk) 08:59, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@245CMR: I am waiting for your reply. - MRRaja001 (talk) 05:02, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:MRRaja001 and User:245CMR, Season's Greetings! I had given the Durga page dispute earlier and researched a bit on the subject. Most general Hindu encyclopedias describe that though Durga emerged as an independent goddess, Durga got increasingly associated with Parvati in her development and thereby treated Shiva's consort. I am a little busy in real life, so probably can't give the references "this year". MRRaja001, the Lakshmi Tantra argument will be WP:OR in wikipedia terminology.--Redtigerxyz Talk 16:57, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Redtigerxyz: Even though Lakshmi Tantra comes under WP:OR. There are many University Press books where Lakshmi is associated with Durga as a Vaishnavism perspective. Even many researchers cited Lakshmi Tantra in their research. - MRRaja001 (talk) 17:17, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:MRRaja001, please point the references. Will go through the same. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:23, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Ganesha in Eastern religions" is the right title I feel. You can refer Eastern religions and Dharmic religions articles aswell. World religions will imply Abrahamic religions aswell. It must be specific on Eastern religions.

Dear anon, The article was renamed a couple of times. "Ganesha beyond Indian Hinduism", "Ganesha beyond India and Hinduism", "Ganesha beyond Hinduism" were the various names. The current title in line with Gautama Buddha in world religions. Also, the article discusses relation with Janus, which is not part of Eastern religions.--Redtigerxyz Talk 10:43, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edits in Nayanar

[edit]

Hi Redtigerxyz. Regarding your changes in Nayanar, the content is well-sourced. The anon just claims that the article is claiming the saint as Shivite. In fact, the article doesn't claim so but only that the Shivite community honors him as the 64th saint, as the sources say. So, I'm readding it after rephrasing it for clarity. Have also removed the first claim which isn't related to the source. Please review. Thanks. Rasnaboy (talk) 03:32, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rasnaboy, The references do not support the claim that Valluvar is often regarded as the 64th Nayanar by the Shaiva community in general. The Mylapore references do not call him the 64th Nayanar explicitly; that is only a Tiruchuli tradition.--Redtigerxyz Talk 05:48, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vaikundar

[edit]

Hey,

We would like to thank you for your efforts to make an article about Vaikundar. Appreciated. At the same time, please do not add the fake and unsourced contents about Ayya vaikundar. This article were written based on historical perspective as per Akilathirattu Ammanai. As you aware to understand Rama Avatara, Ramayana was provided to the world. For Krishna Avatara, Mahabharatha was written. To know about Vaikunta Avatara, Akilathirattu was provided to mankind. You cannot write life story of Rama, or Krishna or vaikundar based on unsourced content. It should be written based on the scriptures. Please note that your activities are hurting us. As you aware Vaikundar (Sriman Vaikunda Swami) is an Tenth avatar of Lord Narayana as per Holy Akilathirattu and Arulnool, but you have reported saying he is Mr.Muthukutty alias Sampoorna Devan become lord Vaikundar. Which is against the fact and you are purposefully defaming lord vaikundar. It is not acceptable. You are hurting us and defaming our GOD. Please note that Cyber defamation complaints with ref Acknowledgement Number : 21602200009493, and 21605200023615 was already raised, based on which unsourced contents were removed. This is for your kind reference and perusal.

Ananthakutti and others Vs. The commissioner, H.R. & C.E. Admn. Department and others

According to this judgement, Swamithoppu Pathi is a common place of worship, that is, a public temple of the deity Sreeman Narayanaswamy, and the main door to principle deity's sannidhi contains information of evidentiary nature pertaining to the ten incarnations of Maha Vishnu, and the outer podium or prahaaram has additional sannidhis or halls of worship for Shiva, Amman, and this place in Swamithoppu represents the reincarnation of Maha Vishnu as Vaikuntar.

On behalf of the people of Ayyavazhi, and on behalf of our organization, we humbly request that please do not publish false news that defames Vaikundar, the deity we worship, and the temple we consider sacred, and our faith. [edit]

On 12 April 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Akshayapureeswarar Temple, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Hindu god Shani is worshipped for protection from fear, accident, death and enemies in the 13th-century Akshayapureeswarar Temple (pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Akshayapureeswarar Temple. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Akshayapureeswarar Temple), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Moving Ājñā to/from Ajna

[edit]

So I'm wondering how naming conventions of Sanskrit titles really works on Wikipedia. Several article titles do use special characters to represent the IAST transliteration, and therefore pronunciation, so I'm not sure why some, like this one, were converted back. - Invokingvajras 16:44, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is no specific naming convention for Sanskrit, I am unaware in Wikipedia. Most Hindu and Jain deities like Ganesha, Shiva, Ambika (Jainism), Rishabhanatha etc. use common English spellings, however we have Buddhist deities in IAST Vaiśravaṇa, Avalokiteśvara. The chakra series (including Ajna) is written in common English. Suggest that for consistency, we use non-IAST. Redtigerxyz Talk 05:36, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
