Support for deleting the Category:Anti-Armenianism

[edit]

Will you support my arguement for the deletion of the Category:Anti-Armenianism that I put forward on May 1, 2009?

It is very subjective and even racist as it puts every person who questions the Armenian genocide, such as prominent academicians, who are not racist or personally against Armenian people or Armenia as an entity, along with assasins and militants.

Thank you

Hello Sabri76, selam, thank you for your kind message. Sometimes I spent a lot of time on here and get to do updates very quickly and I guess I did beat you to a few pages ;) You are right about the Turkish Viki... It is very bad for accuracy and does get vandalised a lot. I'll see you around on pages we both update lol. Merge accounts

[edit]

Hi Sabri76

First of all thank you for your warm welcome in the english Wikipedia. I'm already a user in the german WP having an account there. I just finalised a translation from an english article into german and realised some minor errors on the page and a following linked page. In order to trace the user (not editing as an IP) I tried to open an account with the same name as I have in the german project (see here. Unfortunately I was not able to do this, so I registered with an other account sounding somewhat similar. I'm now trying to merge the two accounts to a global one, unfortunately without success as well. How shall I proceed? Would it be possible to change this account name to the same in the german project or maybe delete this one and create a global account from the german account?

Thanking you in advance for your help I'm looking forward to your reply. Best regards --JRmarino (talk) 16:10, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I usually work in Turkish Wikipedia. But, I've never needed a global account. So, I haven't learnt it. My advice, ask to another experienced wikipedian. Like admins... Regards...--Sabri76'message 10:19, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interview request: The newbie experience, revert communication and $10 to the WMF

[edit]

I'm concluding the study related to the NICE user script (that you installed at some point), and I'd like to ask you some questions about your experiences with and ideas about Wikipedia. The questions will be related to how you interact with new editors and the way you communicate when reverting. The chat should take about 45 minutes to an hour and can happen over phone, voip(skype) or instant messenger(gtalk, ICQ, AIM, etc.). As thanks for your time, I'll donate $10 (US) to the Wikimedia foundation at the completion of the interview. If you are interested or need more information, please let me know. --EpochFail(talk|work) 16:54, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's a lot of unreferenced statistics in fottball biographies. You got me angry because there's no need to show sources in many times. Do we show references when we're filling the footballer infobox? Why are you insisting. These're not special information. Unlike infobox informations, they are strict and doesn't open to discuss. I'm sorry but you're in wrong way. There're more important informations that you have to check...--Sabri76'talk 17:14, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bhutanese Players

[edit]

Hi Sabri, I notice you added some tables to a variety of Bhutanese footballers for goals scored. Unfortunately they do not seem to have any reliable source, so I have reverted them for the time being. None of them appear to be supported by the pre-existing NFT links in the articles and the only link in the tables is one to another WP page, where unfortunately, any source present seems to be a dead link. I am not saying that these tables are wrong and should not be restored, but it would be better if they are able to be linked to a reliable source (match report from AFC?). Fenix down (talk) 10:28, 27 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There're some different sources from different websites but I accept that it's hard to find a source for them. It's easy to find any source for all European and North/South American countries but we've a problem with some unfamiliar countries like Bhutan. I think NFT (Nationalfootballteams.com) isn't enough for national football team data. RSSSF is better than that. However, sometimes even RSSSF remains incapable to find some data. Also it's impossible to find friendly match reports in AFC website. I don't know why I'm dealing with Bhutan :D Anyway, I'll consider your kindly advices and I'll solve this problem. Best regards.--Sabri76'talk 21:37, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced changes

[edit]

Hi Sabri. You seem to be an experienced editor but you've been making dozens of unsourced changes. I find that puzzling. Also, mentioning a source in the edit summary as you did here is not sufficient. WP:Verifiability requires an "inline citation to a reliable source". Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 09:57, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Robby.is.on:. I admit that my edits seem a bit lazy. I thought that there won't be any problem because rsssf.org is a verified source as far as I know and you can find the info via that link. I will care about your advise, thanks.--Sabri76'talk 10:46, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Missing goalscorers

[edit]

Hi there, I am trying to find the goalscorers of Pakistan against Turkey at the 1965 RCD Cup and 1967 RCD Cup. Also in 1967, someone stated in this eu-football match report source that 4 goals were scored by the same player, which possibly are stated in the Cumhuriyet and Milliyet sources attached there. Unfortunately, I am unable to access these sources and, as I don’t understand Turkish, I was wondering if you could assist here. Regards JayFT047 (talk) 13:44, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JayFT047:, I've checked both newspapers and there's no info. Milliyet is free and you have to pay for Cumhuriyet. I have to check physical archive of other daily Turkish newspapers but the possibility is too low. I've noted it. When I find spare time, I'll go to National Library archive. I wish there will be a Pakistani newspaper source.--Sabri76'talk 14:06, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. As per my knowledge, we have access to few reports of matches before 1963 for Pakistan in the Civil and Military Gazette Lahore newspaper archives through https://britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/. Pretty sure that the biggest Pakistani newspapers such as Dawn have the most amount and accurate match reports, but unfortunately all I can see is their news until 2001. Hopefully they digitise their whole archives, would do a huge favour.
Also just a doubt here, how much is the veracity of tff.org regarding stats of opponents in old matches. Because a newspaper source specifically states this player (Ali Nawaz Baloch) scored at the 85th minute at the 1974 RCD Cup, but the tff.org source states "Muhammad Idrees" (another former player) as the scorer instead. I am leaning towards the official website of the TFF, but I have some doubts because a pic I found says the Turkish captain at the right is Yasin Özdenak but he is missing at the match report. JayFT047 (talk) 14:41, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:,:Sometimes there's no perfectly exact info. For example, I spent a lot of time to create this page and I used 4 different newspapers. Sometimes different newspapers write different goal minutes and goalscorers. Sometimes we cannot escape from this confusion. For 28 November 1967, I remember one of the newspaper says "Pakistan's goals were scored in these minutes by the inside left footballer." Interestingly there was no name, newspapers sometimes say shirt number or position of footballer. Usually newspapers use goalscorer's name, instead of goal minutes. They sometimes says X footballer scored a goal in 1st half time and oppopent scored in 2nd half time. Also newspaper always use juse surname or just name. Sometimes it became harder to find the full name of the goalscorer. 7-4 is very interesting score but our media didn't show the interest for the tournament. This is my masterpiece. You cannot any info on the Internet about this. That gives a lot of satisfaction but steals lot of time unfortunately. Sometşmes TFF is right and sometimes newspapers are right. I've added infos about many old Turkish national football team match records. Could you check this page? I've noted some confusions about the match data. I'll inform you when I check the archive.--Sabri76'talk 20:35, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see, could you forward me the report of the 28 November 1967 match, let's see what can I dig from there. I had a look at the team records page, and imo in the match against Switzerland in 1975 I would lean more towards RSSSF as I consider it a more reliable source, but I think it is prefect as it is right now. I like how the doubts are stated in the notes section, good work there. I would also consider eresources where you have doubt as a secondary source. For example according to this archive , in the match against Soviet Union in 1975, the own goal scorer is stated as Mykhaylo Fomenko instead of Stefan Reshko. Usually the vast majority of archives are in English unlike that report, just typing the key words in the search bar and adjusting the date year.
I also had issues in Pakistan national football team results (1950–1989) and the latter few years where the goal scorers were nearly all missing a year ago but unfortunately information on Pakistan stats is very very rare, specially for old matches, and only way was to look at the newspaper archives which I attached at the report section. Loads of goals have been uncovered but still many left. Again, thanks for the thorough insight, very helpful indeed. JayFT047 (talk) 22:50, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An interesting finding here. I updated the 1967 RCD Cup squad section with the Pakistani squad which participated at the 1968 AFC Asian Cup qualification, which was held just few days before the 1967 RCD Cup, so very likely the same players were present there. A year later, Maula Bakhsh and Abdul Jabbar were signed together by a Turkish club Yeni Mersin İdmanyurdu (a snippet pic from a Turkish newspaper here on their signing). You mentioned you spotted "the inside left forward scored a goal" in the news archive, which was Abdul Jabbar position as mentioned here, maybe he caught their eye after the tournament after probably scoring? Ofc just a speculation but quite revealing info I think. JayFT047 (talk) 01:31, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • @JayFT047:, you've done it :)) In facbook photo it says "Which one is Pele? A footballer who seems like Pele will play in Mersin İdmanyurdu... Mersin supporters say that we will call him as Pele... Abdülcabbar who scored 4 goals against our national football team with the shirt of Pakistan national team..." Therefore Abdul Jabbar or Abduljabbar (I don't know how to write in English translation) is the only Pakistani scorer of November 28, 1967 game. Here is the related pages of Milliyet and Cumhuriyet newspapers for Turkey-Pakistan RCD Cup matches:
  • July 21, 1965
  • Milliyet says Pakistan scored its only goal on 80th minute and turkey scored all goals on 1st half time. However TFF says Turkey scored on 80th minute.

Also thanks to you. I've updated Turkey national football team results page with your Pakistani goalscorer addition to 1969 RCD Cup and 1974 RCD Cup. I think as a result I need to go to the library just for 1965 match for looking to other big national newspapers. I think I'll go there within 2 months. With our collaboration, we've solved the problem for 1967 match. Thank you so much. P.S. Could you also update Turkey national football team results (1961–1980) for Abdülcabbar case?--Sabri76'talk 09:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, on a side note the Pelé resembling player in the pic is Maula Bakhsh not Abdul Jabbar :) Here a pic of them both with the TFF president (Jabbar is the one in middle).
Although the lack of names stated on Cumhuriyet and Milliyet is still bothering me, the (supposed) forward goal scoring player are probably Ali Nawaz Baloch which in Turkish pronunciation would be along lines of "Ali Nevzat", or Maula Bakhsh who was also centre forward. The two of them were the leading goalscorers of Pakistan in the 1970s.
I will lean more towards Abdul Jabbar's 4 goals as you stated and add it to List of Pakistan national football team hat-tricks (although this article states none Pakistani player scored 4 goals in a single match before 2009), but enough headaches lol, much old info regarding football stats is missing and inaccurate in our recent news reports during all my experience in this topic. And if possible, could you find out to which newspaper belong the pic, to source it in the hat trick page and to create an article on him as very few sources are available on him as per my findings. Thank you very much for the assistance JayFT047 (talk) 12:41, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:, use painkiller for your headache :D Anyway, I appreciate you because even Pakistan Football Federation don't give importance to history. Unfortunately it's hard to find the source of that pic. I have to check many newspapers of January 1968 and May-August 1968 newspaper volumes (every newspaper has a montly volume and I need to turn over thousands of pages and before I have to request its extraction for every volume from the archive and I can only extract 6 volumes per day. So, it'll take 4 or 5 days. If you give me exact date, that means one volume to check and I can easily help you. I'm sorry, I don't have time to make this comprehensive research. Good luck.--Sabri76'talk 13:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks haha. I see it's too much of hassle, so better not to beat around the bush for that match and source. I also appreciate for your efforts. You helped me a lot in this. JayFT047 (talk) 14:24, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:, this is popular Turkish football archive website. This is the first official match of Abdul Jabbar and Baksh: [1]. Look at the info of referee. What a coincidence. Orhan Gönül was the referee of 7-4 match. Unfortunately they just played 2 matches. Abdul Jabbar and Molla. Also they played in Mersin İdman Yurdu not Yeni Mersin İdmanyurdu. Mersin Idman Yurdu club managers ruined the financial structure of the team, robbed the team and Mersin lost all its footballers and started to be relegated continuously. In order to prevent the disappearance of the football team of a big city like Mersin, they changed the name of an amateur Mersin team, provided financial support and founded Yeni Mersin Idmanyurdu by adding the word ‘Yeni’ (means "new") to the name of the old team. The name of the original Mersin İdman Yurdu was changed to Mersin Talim Yurdu to avoid confusion. Mersin Talim Yurdu is a closed club as you as you might have guessed. Unfortunately, the problem of thieving club managers is very common in Turkey. Also, you may be interested in this page--Sabri76'talk 05:17, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Damn, great finding. I could only dream we kept comprehensive records like these dating back to 1960s, at least for the international team. Didn't knew they played at the Turkish First Football League, as the recent media didn't cover them extensively compared to other players so I thought they played at a lower tier. Thanks for the clarification, interesting story. I will definitely have a look further at that page. We got their club stats at least :D JayFT047 (talk) 06:43, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:, this is the third and last Pakistani player in Turkish Super League with the shirt of PTT (Post Telephone Telgraph). However PTT relegated in that season and in that time, 2nd tier league teams don't have a right to make contract with foreign players. So, it was a one season adventure like other 2 Pakistani players.--Sabri76'talk 06:54, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm this one caught me off guard. Never really heard of him before, maybe it's Ayub Dar? I noticed when I go to archived versions of the other players such as here and here, I can see their pics but can't find the archived page of him. Will look in depth at him and see what can I find JayFT047 (talk) 07:16, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done, an article for Abdul Jabbar JayFT047 (talk) 14:31, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:, I plan to create a tr.wiki page but I need to decide to pronunciation because of Turkish grammar rule. Abdül Cabbar is easy but I cannot decide to write Maula. The pronunciation is like Mullah (Molla in Turkish) or Mawla (Mevla in Turkish). These words have different meanings but when I use Arabic and Urdu pronunciation tools of google translate, the pronunciation is almost the same. However in Turkish, they're popular words and pronunciation is not so close.--Sabri76'talk 19:18, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
His name is deffo not Mullah (in English pronunciation). Yh "Mawla" is the right name so I guess the latter would be better. Unfortunately in the snippet pic of his signing we can't see his name.
However in the 1969 match, Cumhuriyet names his forename "Maula" while the other report mentions him as "Maulabux". The tff report mentions him as "Maulla", so idk how accurate would be keeping his forename same as at is, since all three reports pronounce him nearly the same as in English article.
I would see if there is anything online on them in Turkish, but I only found this from 2012, which also uses the same pronunciation in mackolik, maybe let's see if the 1965 RCD Cup report can be found, as he was also present at that tournament JayFT047 (talk) 20:14, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JayFT047:, by the way, I've created all Pakistani footballers on tr.wiki: [2].--Sabri76'talk 09:36, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mediterranean Games

[edit]

Hello there. Thank you very much for your kind words. I have also been involved with the Mediterranean Games, mainly with the first years. I have a lot of information that I haven't published yet, mainly because of time. :-) There are other Greek newspapers that have many articles, mainly sports newspapers. There is also an Italian one that I found a lot of information about recently. If I have time I will send you today, or more these days. Can you write me an analysis of the seasons you want and the sports so I can look? Best regards. Ewiki (talk) 08:29, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

example: Mediterranean Games xxx (year) - xxx (sport) - xxx (other info) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewiki (talkcontribs) 08:47, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ewiki:, Kalimera, nice to see your message. It's hard to find a person who gives importance to Mediterranean Games. I've searched some online newspaper archives. Slovenian newspapers like Delo and Primorski dnevnik. Also El Mundo Deportivo and two Turkish newspapers. 1971 İzmir Mediterranean Games is so easy to me because I can look at local İzmir newspapers in Ankara National Library archive and they made many news about different countries on the games. However usually Turkish newspapers just make news about Turkish sport teams and sportpersons on the games. Before 1990s there's almost no Turkish sports newspapers. We have some sports newspapers bewtween 1950-1960. After 1990s, sports newspapers 80% made news about football and ridiculously sport page of national newspapers are better than sports newspapers. According to them, there's no sport except football. I also have many unpublished information. Also sometimes some newspapers may give the result of the match 2 days ago, not the day before, and therefore the dates may be one day wrong. My work hasn't finished yet, but I will let you know when it is. Because I don't want to create or imrove articles with missing informations. However my work finished in terms of football pages of the games. There're many missing goalscorers, goal minutes, missing refereee infos, etc. If you start to look at football pages starting from this: [3] to 1955, that would be nice. I've made this with my own, it's unique for wikipedia now :)
First of all I need info for these: User:Sabri76/sandbox
I will add another missing informations after I finished it. I hope you'll help me about at least for Greece competitions. It'd be nice if you write the source also. Good luck--Sabri76'talk 15:00, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Ewiki:, I've updated the list. I've almost finished my whole list and especially I have lot of missing info for 1991 Athens Games which is easy to find for you. I just need to go to the National Library for some Turkish results. I cannot guarantee but 90% I can find missing info about Turkish results. I can leave mark for Turkish results. I've moved my missing infos to my sandbox page. In this way, we won't make busy talk pages and you can add your findings into that page--Sabri76'talk 07:51, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
