Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Call of Duty: World at War, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. -- Comandante {Talk} 06:24, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello there. Retail sources are not reliable or verifiable sources for release dates, as they often use placeholders. Please don't add the information back to Call of Duty: World at War. Thanks! Fin© 23:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mk vs dc.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mk vs dc.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:22, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Rose vs beasley.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 07:09, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

The following other images also have this issue:

Please fix these, and refrain from uploading further images with incomplete source and licensing information. (ESkog)(Talk) 07:14, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Your image uploads

As other editors have pointed out, there are a few issues with the photos you have uploaded. But the main thing is that Wikipedia does not accept copyrighted image, since we do not have permission to use them, as their rights belong to the original photographer or the photo agency like Getty Images or Reuters. Please review WP:IUP, and do not upload any more copyrighted images. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to help. Mosmof (talk) 23:29, 22 July 2008 (UTC) As Mosmof said, you cannot take random pictures off of google and upload them to wikipedia. Corpx (talk) 09:25, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Demar-derozan.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, Image:Demar-derozan.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Demar-derozan.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Image:Demar-derozan.jpg and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Demar-derozan.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
 • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Image:Demar-derozan.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 23:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Please remember what I mentioned earlier - if you didn't take the photo, it's most likely copyrighted, and does not belong on Wikipedia. --Mosmof (talk) 23:25, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Samardo Samuels

The article Samardo Samuels has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -Gogo Dodo (talk) 17:51, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Demar DeRozan/Samardo Samuels

Re your message: They were deleted because they do not currently meet the notability guidelines for athletes. Generally, if the player is still in high school or just entering college, she/he is not likely to meet the notability guidelines. Unless he's LeBron James. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 17:51, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Madden NFL 2010

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Madden NFL 2010, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Thanks! Fin© 15:55, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Madden NFL 2010

I have nominated Madden NFL 2010, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Madden NFL 2010. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Fin© 00:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Demar DeRozan

Re your message: The start of the basketball season does not help the notability of Demar DeRozan. As I noted to you earlier, the problem is that he does not meet the notability guidelines for athletes. The start of the season does not change that. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:37, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Re your message: It's alright, I'm not bothered by your questions. Like I said, I don't think he is notable enough, but you are still welcome to recreate the article. I won't delete it. My recommendation is to make sure that you have proper references for him so that another admin does not delete it. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: You need to add references to articles about him from mainstream media. For example, newspapers or major basketball/sports websites. Stories written about him would be best. Passing mentions ("He scored the winning basket." or "He had the most points scored in the game.") would not infer notability. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: I think it's okay. Did you find any articles that featured him? -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: The link you added was an incomplete link. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: Sorry about not responding to your last message. I lost it in the shuffle. All three of the articles look good. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 01:57, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sm WoS.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sm WoS.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Fair use rationale for Image:Nbalive09.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nbalive09.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 18:54, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

This does not constitute a fair use rationale. I recommend you read our guidelines on non-free content before uploading any more non-free media. J Milburn (talk) 16:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Can you please explain why you keep removing reference tags?

here and here. There are reasons why those still need reference tags. The game engine because someone wanted a citation and the dates because there still needs to be references to them regardless of whether or not the game was already released. Strongsauce (talk) 02:49, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Resolved DEFAULTSORT conflict

Hi!

Each of the biographies you have on your User page had a DEFAULTSORT value. This value may only appear once on a page whether overtly, as DEFAULTSORT, or as an alias, in PERSONDATA or the listas parameter. If it appears more than once on a page it creates an error message on the page and puts the page on the Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts. We are trying to get that category down to no members.
I removed the double braces from each of your DEFAULTSORT values. If any of the biographies need to be pasted into a real page you will need to re-insert the double braces. The biographies that already have their own pages could be removed from your page, could they not?
By the way, I merely skimmed through the biographies but they appear to be very well done. There may be notability issues but each is probably as notable as some of the soccer players whose biographies I have seen because of their DEFAULTSORT conflict but only have four line of text and no citations or references.
I hope I did not damage anything. I do not think I did.

JimCubb (talk) 00:00, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

I have recreated this article which you originally made and which was deleted. I restored all of your previous content and updated it as well as he is clearly now notable. Feel free to resume contributing to that page if you wish. Oren0 (talk) 21:35, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
