Here is the news: Rishi Sunak is the new UK Prime Minister and the first of British Asian and Hindu descent; the former UK PM was defeated by a lettuce; Elon Musk has acquired Twitter after months of speculation and feuding; and Jeffrey Dahmer is finally off the top spot of this report (as attention is now on another American serial killer with a Netflix series about them).

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
Rishi Sunak 7,898,149 The UK has a shiny new Prime Minister, the first of British Asian and Hindu descent, as well as the first appointed by King Charles III, and the first PM elected unopposed since Gordon Brown. The Conservative Party is now Ready for Rishi after realising that wanting Liz for Leader a month ago was a big mistake. Sunak previously served as Chancellor of the Exchequer during Boris Johnson's premiership, being best known for the schemes he and the government released during the early days of the goddamned pandemic. Sunak was appointed PM and Leader of the Conservative Party after being elected unopposed in the October 2022 Conservative Party leadership election, held after his predecessor Liz Truss (#15) was forced out amid a government credibility crisis and was beaten by a lettuce. Sunak takes office during a turbulent time for his party, with the Conservatives way behind Labour in the polls, leaving many to suspect a Labour victory in the next general election. Sunak also has a daunting economic downturn and the Ukraine war to deal with. It's not yet known how Sunak exactly plans to turn things around to secure another Conservative election victory, or if he'll even be able to achieve this at all, but we can only hope he at least lasts longer than his predecessor did.
Leslie Jordan 2,374,465 The American actor, comedian, writer, and singer died this week after a car crash.
Akshata Murty 2,047,488 #1's wife and the daughter of #10.
Jeffrey Dahmer 1,990,852 After five weeks, this is finally off the top spot. Nevertheless, we're still disgusted that the most viewed article of the year so far, which should've gone to either the Ukraine war or the late English queen, is instead a dead serial killer due to a Netflix show, and we’re dreading the possibility Dahmer could still be there when 2022 ends. But there's still two months to go before then, so we can only hope one of those two topics ends up winning instead (with the fifth season of The Crown on the way, this is likely to happen).
ICC Men's T20 World Cup 1,881,064 This cricket competition continues to work through the pool stages in Australia, despite several matches being washed out due to rain (see #12).
Black Adam (film) 1,556,428 No matter if reviewers were unimpressed with Dwayne Johnson as the anti-hero butting heads with the Justice Society of America and very well-equipped terrorists, audiences already made Black Adam earn $250 million in two weeks, a career best for Johnson.
Jerry Lee Lewis 1,464,110 The 1950s "goodness gracious, great balls of fire!" rock and roll star died this week at the age of 87. His career was worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even if his fame never recovered from the controversy of marrying a 13 year old cousin (as documented in a biopic with Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder).
House of the Dragon 1,374,790 The first season of the Targaryen show finished, renewing some people's faith in Westeros after that letdown of 3 years ago and the fact The Winds of Winter never seems to be closer to completion.
Diwali 1,246,891 The Festival of Lights, is a Hindu celebration, which this year took place as #1, a Hindu, became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
N. R. Narayana Murthy 1,214,824 #1's father-in-law, an Indian billionaire who founded Infosys.
Kantara (film) 1,184,761 This Indian Kannada-language action thriller film was a huge commercial success, becoming the second highest-grossing Kannada film of 2022 and all time, behind a previous mainstay of this list.
2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup 1,168,190 This tournament is most of the way through the pool stages. Nobody's certain of going through to the semis, but at the moment it looks most likely to be New Zealand, South Africa, India and Australia.
Charles Cullen 1,134,051 An American serial killer who, while working as a nurse, murdered dozens (possibly hundreds) of patients during a sixteen-year career. He's on this list thanks to the Netflix series The Good Nurse (its release was coincidentally timed with the trial of a nurse in England suspected of infant murder), in which Cullen is portrayed by English actor Eddie Redmayne (pictured).
Kanye West 1,047,452 Ye has done and said many crazy things that people let fly, but rampant antisemitism turned out to be too much, leading to bans from Instagram and Twitter (he proceeded to acquire Parler to fill his social media void) and loss of sponsors.
Liz Truss 973,832 The former Prime Minister, who was defeated by a lettuce and is the shortest-serving PM in British history.
Elon Musk 952,818 On October 26, Musk walked into Twitter headquarters, carrying a sink, apparently to execute a cheap and tortured pun. Anyway, the result was that, after months of speculation and feuding between Musk and Twitter, it has finally happened. On October 27, Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion. His first act was to fire CEO Parag Agrawal, before getting around to making changes. Most significantly, amid claims that Twitter is cancelling conservative voices, Twitter is set to introduce a council of "diverse" political opinions, to make sure any bans aren't politically motivated. What remains to be seen is if Donald Trump's ban will be overturned, and if it will ever be re-instated.
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom 948,400 The office currently held by #1, becoming the first British Asian and Hindu to do so.
Deaths in 2022 933,234 And they sacrifice their lives
And they're lyin' about those odds...
Halloween 734,721 Halloween Ends fell off the list, but anticipation is high for Michael Myers' favorite holiday.
Ram Setu (film) 688,604 This Hindi-language action-adventure film was released this week, receiving praise for the performances while also receiving criticism towards the storyline and visual effects.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities 609,117 While his take on Pinocchio (that certainly must be better than the Disney remake released earlier this year) doesn't arrive on Netflix, our streaming overlords released another project from the acclaimed Mexican director, with del Toro himself helping with the script of two episodes.
The Watcher (2022 TV series) 603,137 Netflix shows have featured prominently on the Top 25 Report — this list alone has two other entries (#4 and #13) who are only here because of a Netflix show. This one follows the true story of a married couple who, after moving into their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey, are harassed by letters signed by a stalker who goes by the pseudonym "The Watcher". Reviews have been mixed thus far, with one review calling the series "ultimately unremarkable fiction."
Barbarian (2022 film) 593,928 One of The Whitest Kids U' Know took a page from the Jordan Peele book and went from comedian to horror director in this movie about a woman discovering she took the worst possible home at AirBnB. After good reviews and making more than ten times its budget at the box office, it has hit streaming (HBO Max in the US, Star+ internationally).
2022 FIFA World Cup 579,848 We're less than a month away from the Middle East receiving the best footballers in the world, hence expect this article to become a steady presence.
Black Adam 576,148 Keeping off the list the show about #13 is the supervillain/anti-hero of #6 (the woman in the picture to left is in a way also in the movie, played by Sarah Shahi). The credits scene hints at a confrontation with one DC superhero, but probably not before facing his archnemesis from the comics.
