- Many thanks. Have not done much here as the encyclopedia is as much work as I have time for.Jmh649 00:38, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Quiz Creation
[edit source]It is possible to create quizzes on Wikiversity, as you have found. However, I find the use of Quizlet to be more effective, as a single upload of content allows students to do flashcards, games, and four different types of quiz questions from the same content. See the assessments at the end of IT Fundamentals/Hardware for examples. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 20:42, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- What is the copyright of Quizlet? Not being in the WMF environment and having ads makes it less desirable IMO. We should make the Wikiversity quiz extension better. Doc James (discuss • contribs) 20:49, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Quizlet is definitely less desirable than a WMF solution. But I got to a point where I could either spend my time developing content or spend time developing the tool. I needed the content and had to go with the more functional tool. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 21:04, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes am looking at a larger project therefore want to keep things local to Wikiversity. Doc James (discuss • contribs) 21:06, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Is your intent to create quizzes for students to practice online? The university extension works OK for that. See, for example Wikibooks:Basic_Physics_of_Digital_Radiography/The_Quiz. The quiz extension has a few peculiarities you have to watch out for, such as the fact that two quizzes on the same page often create difficulties. Also, for some reason, fill-in numerical questions work very well in most cases, but only if the answer is NOT zero. If you are interested in in-class quizzes that can be printed out on paper, then we should talk. I am up to my ears in that project right now.--Guy vandegrift (discuss • contribs) 21:28, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks User:Guy vandegrift. Will have more details soon I hope. Doc James (discuss • contribs) 21:41, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

No. It is not going to go away James. I want to know: is there such a thing as "board certification" in Canada? Or is that an American thing? Is that so much to ask for in a single 24-hour period?--2602:304:CDC1:90:5CB8:A7E8:9514:7E79 (discuss) 06:03, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
- Is what going to go away? Yes "board certified" is an American thing. We have two methods of being certified as an ER doc in Canada. One is CCFP(EM) the other is RCPSC. I have the first. Doc James (discuss • contribs) 17:46, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
List of Setswana medical terms
[edit source]I noticed that you added categories to List of Setswana medical terms. Those categories don't currently exist on wikiversity. You may want to have a look at the subcategories in Category:Medicine first to find a match for this resource. If you want to create Category:Medical terminology you will need to edit that category by adding it to, for example, Category:Medicine and saving the change. --mikeu talk 23:27, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
One other note. I see there is an AfD at w:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Setswana medical terms. Please make a request at Wikiversity:Import so that our staff can move the resource here while also preserving the edit history. --mikeu talk 23:39, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

- You are welcome. I'm watching the deletion discussion at WP. If it is going to get deleted an admin will likely move the page to my userspace and ping me. That will give me time to then import the final revision here. Might take up to a week for the decision. FYI, you can ping someone using {{reply to|Username}} Message text. ~~~~ to get their attention. If you have any future questions probably the best place to leave a message is at the Wikiversity:Colloquium as that page watched by many of us. --mikeu talk 00:05, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

[edit source]Thank you for the invite, I finally took the bait and made a model : COVID-19/Iluvalar for what it worth... Iluvalar (discuss • contribs) 19:21, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit source]For your review of my paper at WikiJournal Preprints/Where experts and amateurs meet: the ideological hobby of medical volunteering on Wikipedia. I've made some changes to address issues you've raised; you can see summary here and check edit history for my comments on individual edits. The only thing I didn't comment on is "Readership of Wikipedia's medical content on Wikipedia has been decreasing over the last number of years despite the amount of content increasing.[2] It no longer appears to be the most used medical resource online, having been surpassed by a site of much lower quality". I think this is very interesting and somewhat worrisome, but it seems to be based on research in progress at https://mdwiki.org/wiki/WikiProjectMed:WikiProject_Medicine/Popular_pages so I am not sure how to cite this at that point. A very interesting avenue, though! Maybe you could write your findings for the Signpost (and then I could cite them)? Piotrus (discuss • contribs) 12:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- User:Piotrus this is simple monthly data produced by the Wikimedia Foundation that I have been collecting for more than 10 years. All good. Doc James (discuss • contribs) 12:21, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you - follow up
[edit source]Now that my article that you've reviewed has been accepted, I wonder if you'd like to summarize your thoughts of it for the Wikimedia Research Newsletter/The Signpost for their monthly review of Wikipedia research? Piotrus (discuss • contribs) 00:54, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
