[edit]From Middle Welsh creu, from Proto-Celtic *kruwos, *kruwyos (“enclosure”) (compare Breton krao (“eye of a needle”), kraou (“stable”), Cornish krow (“hut, shed, sty”), Irish cró (“eye socket; enclosure”)), from Proto-Indo-European *krewh₁- (“to hide”) (compare Old English hrēodan (“to cover”), Old Church Slavonic крꙑти (kryti, “to hide”)).[1]
