What are embroidery thread bits called? Do they have a special name? What do you do with them? Do you try to save them for another project? Throw them away? After I had been embroidering for a few years, I started hearing the term orts. I wasn't really sure what it was being referred to or if I was missing something in translation. Turns out orts are thread bits! Wear a Garden Project - Mended skirt This is a vintage skirt pants that was given to me by a dear client, so I could use the fabric. It had several small rust stains but it was in such a good shape and it is so beautiful that I had to repair it with embroidery. I covered the stains with some plants, and replaced the buttons for a more relaxed look. It is now perfectly new 💛 Embroider Over Stains, Cover Stains With Embroidery, Embroidery To Cover Stains, Pieces Of Clothing, Vintage Skirt, Skirt Pants, The Clothes, So Beautiful, An Artist

Susan B. Anderson on Instagram: "Thanks for the ideas to cover the bleach spots on my favorite @consciousclothing dress. I never would’ve thought to use permanent markers. I’m so pleased with the result. The three spots were on the front of the dress about halfway down the skirt, very noticeable. The markers didn’t match the navy and gray stripes exactly, especially the gray, but after it dried the touched-up areas lightened up and are now hardly discernible. If the fabric is weakened and wears out I’ll turn to embroidery as phase two. The dress lives on! Thank you for the hundreds of responses. I know where to come if I have any questions. ❤️❤️❤️
Side note: I had a few people wondering why I used bleach. Honestly, I think this is the first time in my life I’ve ever used bleach and it was Bleach Spots On Clothes, Permanent Markers, Gray Stripes, Permanent Marker, The Navy, The Gray, The Machine, Grey Stripes, Fix It
