SCALE SETS
All the chords of any song in this songbook can be found in one of the following five scale sets. (a scale set
will show you a fixed combination of chords to play any song)
Below the title of every song is the songs main chord shown in brackets. It could be a major chord, i.e. [C] or
minor chord, i.e. [A-].
Find it in the chart below in the MINOR or MAJOR row and you will have found the scale for that song.
For example if your song’s main chord shows [A-] then it is Scale set 1. If it shows [G] it is Scale set 4.
You can change to any Scale set combination to better suit your vocal range.
For example if you are singing “Mother of my heart” in [G], then you are using chords G, D and C. as shown
in Scale 4. You can transpose them to Scale 5 for a higher tone using the corresponding chords A, E and D
or to Scale 2 for a lower voice and use D, A and G.
It can also help you to choose the possible chord combinations for composing a song or just jamming in any
scale set.
Todos los acordes principales de cualquier canción de este libro se pueden encontrar en esta tabla de
escalas. Debajo del título de cada canción se muestra el acorde principal de la canción. Este puede ser un
acorde mayor, i.e. [C] o un acorde menor, i.e. [A-].
Minor A- B- D- E- F#-
Bb C Eb F G
Mayor C D F G A
D- / D E- / E G- / G A- / A B- / B
F G Bb C D
G A C D E
* The information in brackets i.e. [II / A- / 8] under the title of each song means in order: the position (fret) to
set the capo on the guitar “Capo in second fret”, the song main chord for the song “Song play in A-”, and the
rhythm / beat of the song “8 beats”.
* La información en corchetas i.e. [II / A-, 8] debajo del título de cada canción indica: la posición donde
colocar el capotraste, el acorde principal de la canción y el ritmo de la canción. En el ejemplo: Colocar el
capotraste en el segundo traste, el acorde principal de la canción es A- y el ritmo es de 8 tiempos.

This is a powerful mantra from Ganesha Purana. When things are not
in your favor, or when the minds of the people turn negative,
depressed or discouraged, the attention of Ganesha may be drawn by
this mantra to straighten their ways. The HUM symbolizes "Delay no
more, my Lord, in straightening the paths of the crooked-minded
ones."

Gate means gone, gone from suffering to liberation. Paragate means gone all the way to the other shore (to
Nirvana). Sam means everybody. Bodhi means awakening and svaha is an expression of delight and
excitement. So the whole mantra translates as something like: Gone, gone, gone all the way over;
everyone’s gone to the other shore; Enlightenment, All Hail!

[Capo III / C / 6]
Alonso y Diego (Puerto Maldonado, 2003)
Om. We worship The Three-Eyed Lord Shiva who is fragrant and who
increasingly nourishes the devotees. Worshipping him may we be
liberated from death for the sake of immortality just as the ripe
cucumber easily separates itself from the binding stalk.
OM TRYAMBAKAN YAJAMAHE C, G, F
SUGANDHIM PUSTI - VARDHANAM / C, G, C
URVA - RUKAMIVA BANDHANAN G, C
MRTYOR - MUKSHEEYA MA - AMRITAT // G, C
SUGANDHIM refers to His fragrance (of knowledge, presence and strength i.e. three aspects) as being the
best and always spreading around. Fragrance refers to the joy that we get on knowing, seeing or feeling His
virtuous deeds.
PUSHTIVARDHANAM: Pooshan refers to Him as the sustainer of this world and in this manner, He is the
Father (Pater) of all. Pooshan is also the inner impeller of all knowledge and is thus Savitur or the Sun and
also symbolizes Brahma the Omniscient Creator. In this manner He is also the Father (Genitor) of all.
URVAARUKIMIVA: ‘URVA’ means “VISHAL” or big and powerful or deadly. ‘ARUKAM’ means ‘Disease’.
Thus URVARUKA means deadly and overpowering diseases. (The CUCUMBER interpretation given in
various places is also correct for the word URVARUKAM, but not apt for this mantra). The diseases are also
of three kinds caused by the influence (in the negative) of the three Guna’s and are ignorance (Avidya etc),
falsehood (Asat etc as even though Vishnu is everywhere, we fail to perceive Him and are guided by our
sight and other senses) and weaknesses (Shadripu etc. a constraint of this physical body and Shiva is all
powerful).
BANDHANAATH means bound down. Thus read with URVAROOKIMIVA, it means ‘I am bound down by
deadly and overpowering diseases’.
MRITYOR MUKSHIIYA means to deliver us from death (both premature death in this Physical world and
from the neverending cycle of deaths due to re-birth) for the sake of Mokshya (Nirvana or final emancipation
from re-birth).
MAAMRITAT means ‘please give me some Amritam (life rejuvinating nectar). Read with the previous word, it
means that we are praying for some ‘Amrit’ to get out of the death inflicting diseases as well as the cycle of
re-birth.

MOOLA MANTRA
Kalki Bhagavan [III / A- / 8]
Diego y Milagros (Pisaq, May 2012)
The Mantra is like calling a name. Just like when you call a person he comes and makes you feel his
presence, the same manner when you chant this mantra, the supreme energy manifests everywhere around
you. As the Universe is Omnipresent, the supreme energy can manifest anywhere and any time. It is also
very important to know that the invocation with all humility, respect and with great necessity makes the
presence stronger.
OM:The Supreme word is OM. If you are meditating in silence deeply, you can hear the sound OM within.
The whole creation emerged from the sound OM. It is the primordial sound or the Universal sound by which
the whole universe vibrates.
SAT means, all penetrating existence that is formless, shapeless, omnipresent, attribute less, and quality
less aspect of the Universe. It is the Un manifest. It is experienced as emptiness of the Universe. We could
say it is the body of the Universe that is static. Every thing that has a form and that can be sensed, evolved
out of this Un manifest. It is so subtle that it is beyond all perceptions. It can only be seen when it has
become gross and has taken form. We are in the Universe and the Universe is in us. We are the effect and
Universe is the cause and the cause manifests itself as the effect.
CHIT is the Pure Consciousness of the Universe that is infinite, omni-present manifesting power of the
Universe. Out of this is evolved everything that we call Dynamic energy or force. It can manifest in any form
or shape. It is the consciousness manifesting as motion, as gravitation, as magnetism, etc. It is also
manifesting as the actions of the body, as thought force. It is the Supreme Spirit.
ANANDA means bliss, love and friendship nature of the Universe. When you experience either the Supreme
Energy in this Creation (SAT) and become one with the Existence or experience the aspect of Pure
Consciousness (CHIT), you enter into a state of Divine Bliss and eternal happiness (ANANDA). This is the
primordial characteristic of the Universe, which is the greatest and most profound state of ecstasy that you
can ever experience when you relate with your higher Consciousness.
PARABRAHMA is the Supreme Being in his Absolute aspect; one who is beyond space and time. It is the
essence of the Universe that is with form and without form. It is the Supreme creator.
PURUSHOTHAMA has got different meanings. Purusha means soul and Uthama means the supreme; the
Supreme spirit. It also means the supreme energy of force guiding us from the highest world. Purusha also
means Man, and PURUSHOTHAMA is the energy that incarnates as an Avatar to help and guide Mankind
and relate closely to the beloved Creation.
PARAMATMA means the supreme inner energy that is immanent in every creature and in all beings, living
and non-living. It's the indweller or the Antaryamin who resides formless or in any form desired. It's the force
that can come to you whenever you want and wherever you want to guide and help you.
SRI BHAGAVATI is the female aspect, which is characterized as the Supreme Intelligence in action, the
Power (The Shakti). It is referred to the Mother Earth (Divine Mother) aspect of the creation.
SRI BHAGAVTE is the Male aspect of the Creation, which is unchangeable and permanent.
NAMAHA is salutations or prostrations to the Universe that is OM and also has the qualities of SAT-CHIT-
ANANDA, that is omnipresent, unchangeable and changeable at the same time, the supreme spirit in a
human form and formless, the indweller that can guide and help in the feminine and masculine forms with
the supreme intelligence. I seek your presence and guidance all the time.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
Namah means bowing to the divine. Shivaya is the force of the divine that sweeps away the negative and
renew the spirit. “I bow to the inner self” or “I honor the God inside myself and in all things.”
Om Namah Shivaya es un mantra en Sánscrito extraído de los grandes maestros del linaje Siddha. La
sílaba Om es descrita por las escrituras de la India como el sonido primordial o palabra de donde emerge
todo el universo, namah significa "honrar a" y Shivaya significa "el Señor". Om Namah Shivaya significa "Me
inclino ante el Señor".
Mientras escuchamos y cantamos este gran mantra, tiene el poder de dirigir nuestra presencia hacia
adentro y conducirnos hacia una experiencia de inmensa calma y paz. Esta melodía llamada Darbari Raga,
es tradicionalmente cantada de noche y es conocida por sus dones de evocar sentimientos de devoción

PURNAMADAH
Satyaa & Pari
[Capo V / A- / 8]
PurNam, the single noun in the verse, is a beautiful Sanskrit word which
means completely filled - a filledness which (in its Vedic scriptural
sense) is wholeness itself, absolute fullness lacking nothing whatsoever.
Adah, which means ’that’, and idam, which means ’this’, are two
pronouns each of which, at the same time, refers to the single noun,
pUrNam: PUrNam adah - completeness is that, PUrNam idam -
completeness is this.
Idam, this, refers to something not remote but present, here and now, immediately available for perception,
something directly known or knowable. Thus it can be said that adah refers to the unknown, the unknown in
the sense of the not-directly known due to remoteness, and idam refers to the immediately perceivable
known. In other words, idam stands for all things capable of being known as objects. So when the verse says
pUrNam idam, "completeness is this", what is being said is that all that one knows or is able to know is
pUrNam.
Therefore, when it is said that aham, I, am pUrnam and idam, this, is pUrNam, what is really being said is
that there is only pUrNam. Aham, I, and idam, this, traditionally represent the two basic categories into one
or the other of which everything fits. There is no third category. So if aham and idam, represent everything
and each is pUrNam , then everything is pUrNam. Aham, I is pUrNam which includes the world. Idam this,
is pUrNam which include me. The seeming differences of aham and idam are swallowed by pUrnam - that
limitless fullness which shruti (scripture) calls Brahman.
PurNam, completeness, absolute fullness, must necessarily be formless. PurNam cannot have a form
because it has to include everything. Any kind of form means some kind of boundary; any kind of boundary
means that something is left out - something is on the other side of the boundary. Absolute completeness
requires formlessness.

This prayer is to Goddess Parvati (Gauri, Durga, the consort of Lord Shiva, and worshipped as Shakti.) If we
pray to Goddess Parvati, who is Auspicious, Mercy and Bliss, then she bestows upon us such strength that
helps us to escape the delusion and to get liberation.
This hymn is addressed by every hindu during every possible marriage ceremony because Parvati is the
goddess of fertility and marriage.
