I don’t typically use a central dowel since I transport tiered cakes with a cake safe, or I insert a central dowel after stacking the tiers. To ensure everything is properly aligned and supported, I place the cake card directly on top of the cake that will be underneath the next tier. Would you try this method? I usually use one less support than the size of the tier above. For example, for a 6” cake tier above, the bottom tier would have 4 bubble tea straws, and the center dowel. This makes a total of 5 supports! - Use a wooden dowel, and gently twist as it goes into the cake, and make sure you feel it puncture the bottom, this really stabilizes the cake! - I use a cake board to show Tiered Cake Sizes, Tall Two Tier Wedding Cake, How To Stack Two Tier Cake, Cake Tier Sizes, Stacking Cakes Tiers, Best Cake Recipe For Stacking, 2 Tier Birthday Cake Ideas, Tier Cake Sizes, 2 Tier Cake Ideas

Assemble each cake tier on a cake board that has a hole in the very center. CHILL tiers until solid before proceeding. I used a 3/8” dowel that was attached to the base for central support. The hole in the center of the cardboard cake circles was large enough for the wooden dowel to pass through. My bottom cake tier had a 9” cake tier placed on top, so I needed 9 supports in my bottom tier. I use milkshake straws and mark where I’ll be placing the straws to start. I aim to have the straws placed about 1” in from the edge of the cake they’re supporting (ie: I placed the straws in the bottom tier in a 7” circle so they’d support the 9” tier going on top.) Push the first straw into the cake and mark where the top of the cake is and the Cake Dowels, Tire Cake, Cardboard Cake, 9 Cake, 3 Layer Cakes, Tiered Cakes Birthday, Tier Cakes, Two Tier Cake, 2 Tier Cake
