Kalibeliya dance comes from a tribe of the same name in Rajasthan, India. Traditionally, the Kalbeliya tribe moved from one area to another frequently, catching snakes and trading snake venom. Kalbeliya dance moves are meant to mimic a snake’s movements. The red and black patterns on the dancers’ clothing are meant to look pleasing when the dancers are moving.
