The Ten Commandments are two tablets that depicted certain ethical and moral rules that the Israelites were to practice. The Ten Commandments were given to Moses on Mount Sinai by God after the Israelites were freed from Egypt. These commandments formed the basis of Jewish society and law, as well as taught how to live a moral life according to God. The commandments are centered around vices such as: idolatry, murder, disrespect, lying, envy, and stealing.

The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Romans 8:3
