In 1897 he decided to open the Palmer Institute of Chiropractic Infirmary in Davenport, Iowa; now known as Palmer College of Chiropractic. His students became pioneer educators, authors and lecturers. His only son B.J. Palmer, graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1902. The first professional organization formed and the Founder, D.D. Palmer, traveled to the West Coast, opening a series of chiropractic schools.
