Frontal fibrosing alopecia is a form of scarring hair loss affecting the hair on the front of the scalp. This happens due to inflammation and destruction of the hair follicles. 

Sometimes there are no symptoms at all but it can cause an itchy, painful or burning sensation across the frontal hairline. The experience of hair loss is often distressing.
