Pleasant Hill, Kentucky was a Shaker community founded around 1805. By 1825 Pleasant Hill was a thriving community with nearly 500 inhabitants. The community lasted until 1910 with the last Shaker passing in 1923. The community property was split up and sold but eventually most of the land was repurchased by a non-profit organization who currently run the property as a museum.
