Description

This contribution adds comprehensive NestJS development instructions to help GitHub Copilot provide better guidance for building scalable Node.js server-side applications using the NestJS framework.

The instructions cover all essential aspects of NestJS development including:

  • Core principles (Dependency Injection, modular architecture, decorators)
  • Project structure and naming conventions
  • API development patterns (controllers, services, DTOs)
  • Database integration with TypeORM
  • Authentication and authorization strategies
  • Error handling and logging best practices

Type of Contribution

  • New instruction file.
  • New prompt file.
  • New chat mode file.
  • Other (please specify):

Additional Notes

Testing: I have tested these instructions with GitHub Copilot locally and they provide comprehensive, actionable guidance for NestJS development. The instructions follow the established format and patterns used throughout the repository.

Coverage: This fills a gap in the current instruction set as NestJS was not previously covered, despite being a popular Node.js framework. The instructions complement the existing Node.js and TypeScript instructions while focusing specifically on NestJS patterns and best practices.

File Details:

  • File: instructions/nestjs.instructions.md
  • Size: 407 lines
  • Front matter: Includes proper applyTo patterns and description
  • README.md: Automatically updated using the repository's update script
