Homebridge-GSH Moving to Subscription Model: Important Update for Existing Users

To continue providing reliable Google Assistant integration for Homebridge accessories, the Homebridge-Google Smart Home (GSH) plugin is shifting to a subscription model. This change, effective today, ensures we can maintain high-quality service. Here’s what existing users need to know:

Why This Change: The subscription model supports the cloud backend and development efforts needed to maintain a high level of service for Google Smart Home integration.

Grace Period: You have 30-60 days from June 19, 2025, to subscribe via the plugin’s config screen (requires version 4.0.0+). Please update your plugin to ensure continuity.

Subscription Details: Subscriptions are securely processed through PayPal, and are available in Monthly or Annual plans, in USD, CAD or Euro's.

Without a Subscription: After the grace period, the plugin will stop responding to Google Smart Home requests.

We appreciate your understanding as we make this change to sustain this quality service.

This Release introduces UI improvements for dark mode switching, new configuration options, updated thermostat query responses, and improved test flows. Key changes include adding dark mode styles and structure in the UI, new discovery timing options in the configuration, and updates to the thermostat query response to include an active thermostat mode.

Recently Oznu annouced that he no longer had the resources or free time required to maintain this plugin. So we worked with him to transfer the operational assets of the service over to us, so that we could continue to offer this service for Google Home users.

So at the present time, we have created a new cloud server to support this offering, and have successfully migrated operations over. We want to thank Oznu for his time and efforts over the last few years in creating and running this great service for the community.

Going forward we will be updating the cloud server and plugin code base, to bring its patch level up to date, and making other enhancements as needed.
