FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • City Colleges’ 2025 Commencement Ceremonies for Associate Degree Earners will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Wintrust Arena. The exact timing of the ceremony will be shared closer to graduation.
  • City Colleges students who have earned an associate degree during the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 semesters or who are expected to complete their associate degree during the Spring 2025 term will be recognized at the 2025 commencement ceremonies.
  • To see if you’re eligible to graduate, log in to the student portal at my.ccc.edu with your City Colleges username and password. Then, go to: Academic Progress > Application for Graduation. To participate in commencement on May 3, your status in a degree program must be one of the following: “Degree Awarded” for Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 or “Conditional Approval” for Spring 2025.
  • Information on how to order caps and gowns will be shared with graduates in early 2025. Continue to check your email and this site to learn more.
  • Your graduation college is the college from which you have earned the most credits towards graduation. You can check with your advisor if you are unsure.
  • Yes, however, your college’s registrar must have a record of your preferred name in order to have it announced during the ceremony and used in the official graduation program. You will need to fill out this form, which is available at the Registrar’s Office. Please note that your legal name will still be displayed on your diploma.
  • Yes. Each graduate will be given several guest tickets, and guests are required to show a ticket to enter Wintrust Arena. Graduates will pick up tickets for their guests at their college prior to graduation. Additional details will be shared closer to graduation.
  • Only diploma covers will be issued during the ceremony on May 3. For this reason, the conferring of degrees at the ceremony is provisional, pending verification that degree requirements have all been met. Students who graduated in the Summer or Fall semester should have received their diploma by mail. Log in to parchment.com to claim your digital diploma if you have not already done so.
  • Students who will graduate at the end of the Spring semester will receive information regarding their final graduation audit and possible degree conferral via their student email. Students can expect to receive additional messaging in late June notifying you to log in to parchment.com to verify your mailing address and claim your digital diploma. You will have 72 hours from the time you receive the email to confirm your address, or it will be mailed to the address we have on file.
