“Inspired Grace: The Ethiopic Miracles of Mary” is presented by Dr. Jeremy R. Brown, cataloger of Ethiopian manuscripts at HMML.

Stories about the life and miracles of the Virgin Mary have captured the attention and imagination of people around the globe and across the centuries. This is particularly true in Ethiopia and Eritrea, where the Miracles of Mary grew from a short work to an expansive genre describing acts of healing, protection, provision, and grace performed by Mary for the sake of those who call upon her name.

“Armenian Christian Martyrs in Text and Image: A Brief Study of the Armenian Illuminated Menologium (Yaysmawurk') in HMML Manuscript Collections” is presented by Dr. Ani Shahinian, cataloger of Armenian manuscripts at HMML.

Dr. Shahinian will share artifacts from manuscript illuminations, material culture, and texts that broaden access to the history, memory, and experience of martyrdom in Armenia and beyond. The lecture will explore the role of martyrdom in shaping Christian identity, particularly, Armenian Christianity, and the development of the Universal Church in Armenia.

“Shakespeare and His World: A Celebration of HMML’s Second Folio” is presented by Dr. Matthew Harkins of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in Minnesota.

Dr. Harkins will also introduce a new exhibition at HMML: “He was not of an age, but for all time!”: The Second Folio and the English Renaissance. This exhibition will run from January to May 2025 on-site in HMML’s Reading Room in Collegeville, Minnesota; a version of the exhibition will also be available for access online. Dr. Harkins, a co-curator for the exhibition, will introduce William Shakespeare’s England and the exciting connections uncovered in the process of creating the exhibition.
