In primitive times, communication was via posturing & gutteral noises…..our bodies worked with the seasons & the fight/flight/freeze response was hard-wired into our brains as it was critical for survival from the many things that wanted to eat us back then. Our bodies still respond in the same way to save us……..It doesn’t care if it’s a bill to be paid….as far as it’s concerned, there could be a sabre toothed tiger chasing us to eat us. When you take action to calm your nervous system, you are saying to your brain, we are safe, it is okay……& your brain will do all it can to help you with that (eg if there was a sabre toothed tiger chasing you for its lunch, you wouldn’t have time to do some light yoga 😊)
