Julie Andrews
Dame Julie Andrews (lahir 1 Oktober 1935) adalah seorang pemeran wanita, penyanyi, sekaligus pengarang Inggris. Ia terkenal dengan perannya dalam Mary Poppins (1964) dan The Sound of Music (1965).
Awal karier
[sunting | sunting sumber]Terlahir dari orang tua aktor dan pianis, Julia Elizabeth Wells mulai terjun dalam dunia hiburan pada saat Perang Dunia II untuk menghibur para tentara bersama dengan artis cilik lainnya, Petula Clark. Pada 1947, dia tampil di West End, London.
Karier
[sunting | sunting sumber]Julie Andrews telah melamar menjadi pemeran dalam My Fair Lady, tetapi peran tersebut didapatkan oleh Audrey Hepburn. Sebagai gantinya, Julie Andrews mendapatkan peran sebagai Mary Poppins dalam film berjudul sama tahun 1964 bersama Dick van Dyke. Penampilannya mendapatkan Academy Award untuk kategori Aktris Terbaik. Pada Grammy Awards 1965, dia dan bintang lainnya dalam Mary Poppins dianugrahi penghargaan Best Album for Children.
The Sound of Music (1965) juga melejitkan namanya dan membuatnya dinominasikan untuk Academy Awards kembali untuk perannya sebagai Maria von Trapp. Tahun 1960-an sampai 1970-an, Julie Andrews menikmati kejayaan kariernya namun pada 1980-an sampai 1990-an, kariernya agak menurun.
Pada tahun 2000, Julie dianugrahi gelar Dame oleh kerajaan Inggris sehingga namanya adalah Dame Julie Andrews. Pada 2001, kariernya kembali menanjak setelah membintangi The Princess Diaries dan The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004). Ia juga bermain dalam dua film Eloise at The Plaza. Ia juga segera pulih setelah operasi tenggorokan.
