Model mobilnej prezentacji kartografi cznej Z a r y s t r e ś c i. W artykule przedstawiono podst... more Model mobilnej prezentacji kartografi cznej Z a r y s t r e ś c i. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe założenia i cechy modelu mobilnej prezentacji kartografi cznej. Stanowi on podstawowy element metodyki projektowania prezentacji kartografi cznych na potrzeby aplikacji lokalizacyjnych i nawigacyjnych zaproponowany w pracy autora (D. Gotlib 2011). Model oparty jest na szeregu nowych pojęć, mogących stanowić podstawę ontologii mobilnego przekazu kartografi cznego: jednostka przekazu kartografi cznego, geokompozycja składowa, geowizualizacja elementarna, okno geowizualizacji, zdarzenie kartografi czne. Poprzez podanie przykładów implementacyjnych przybliżono jego właściwości oraz koncepcję modelowania. Wykorzystanie modelu umożliwia formalizację procesu projektowania prezentacji kartografi cznych, nie tylko mobilnych. Formalizacja ma na celu uniknięcie niejednoznaczności opracowywanego projektu, zapewnienie możliwości jego wielokrotnego wykorzystania oraz zautomatyzowanego przetwarzania. Jupyter Technology as a Cartographer's Work Environment: A Case Study

The article describes research experiments carried out to test the feasibility of using Jupyter t... more The article describes research experiments carried out to test the feasibility of using Jupyter technology as a tool to assist cartographers. The case study includes several examples typical of the stage of data preparation and analysis prior to the execution of the cartographic presentation itself. At the same time, the possibility of performing simple cartographic presentations useful at the stage of analysis performed by various researchers is presented in this environment. The purpose of the cases discussed is not to perform a complex and typical cartographic task but to highlight Jupyter Notebook's usefulness in cartographers' work. The authors introduce the essential features of this technology, briefly describe the experiments performed using geospatial cyberinfrastructure, and demonstrate the overall potential and limitations of the Jupyter environment. It's most important advantages include a possibility of prototyping as part of the map development process, automation of geodata preparation processes, and facilitation of teamwork and sharing work results. The experiments confirmed the usefulness of the technology, although they also demonstrated some particular requirements and barriers in its use. Subsequent research teams can use the Jupyter notebooks that were created as part of the experiment.

Several pilot projects exist in airports, universities, hospitals, and shopping centres. The difficulties in development are currently mainly due to the continuing low quality of indoor positioning and lack of widespread access to high-quality building models. A strong methodological basis for how the interior and exterior of buildings can be cartographically represented in navigation applications has also not yet been developed. The aim of this paper is to present a broad perspective on applications dealing with 3D building ... more The aim of this paper is to present a broad perspective on applications dealing with 3D building models and indoor navigation during an emergency. This is an immense topic, which has been considerably investigated by researchers from different fields of expertise: construction, cognition, spatial information science, cartography, robotics, mathematics, engineering, etc. It is not possible to provide one, complete approach to the problem, because it largely depends on the application. However, some solutions are prevailing, and they are adopted by others. In this paper there is an attempt made to signalise specific directions and trends related to the topic. They include building model requirements, navigation network generation and representation, and 3D visualisation of models and navigation paths. These issues are important in the process of rapid model generation, which is suitable for decision support and situational awareness systems for first responders. The authors highlight issues that may be investigated by young researchers or may be considered as alternatives by more experienced ones. The paper is therefore the aim of this paper is to summarise the contemporary research conducted in various research teams, as well as to present author&#39;s own observations and experiences.

Skoncentrowano sie przy tym na problematyce modelowania kartograficznego, ktore poddano analizie pod kątem jego fundamentalnych cech. Jednocześnie wybrano szereg innych modeli rzeczywistości (niekartograficznych) i przeprowadzono ocene wystepowania w nich konkretnych cech wlaściwych dla modelowania kartograficznego. W ten sposob dokonano zdefiniowania unikalnego zestawu cech jakim modelowanie kartograficzne wyroznia sie od innych reprezentacji rzeczywistości, takich jak np. obrazowanie przestrzeni w grze komputerowej, systemie klimatycznym czy w formie obrazu artystycznego. In the middle of the 4th industrial revolution, surveyors need to use new geo-information tools e... more In the middle of the 4th industrial revolution, surveyors need to use new geo-information tools effectively. There is a need for an IT cloud-based test environments to support R&D work. The answer to such demands is the CENAGIS cyberinfrastructure originally designed and developed in Warsaw University of Technology, built within the Centre for Geospatial and Satellite Analysis. It is prepared as a "sandbox" for research with use of virtual computers and many developing technologies, such as containerization, distributed and parallel computing, GPU computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and big data solutions. Users have an access to rich geospatial data resources managed by Polish SDIs (from cadastral, through topographic, geological, statistical, to weather, and environmental data) in one place. Available data includes point clouds from aerial laser scanning for the entire Polish territory and satellite images from the European Space Agency. Users can also upload, compare, correct, and process their own measurement data. Extending the Repository's content with data from different countries and regions is possible in cooperation with other entities. Users can utilize the available software packages with configured access to the data in the Repository. There is also a Geospatial Analysis Platform available to share self-developed analytical services and take advantage of solutions shared by others. There are also groupware tools that allow collaboration between users, especially between researchers and company specialists. The paper will present the architecture and technological solutions used as well as the proposed work model. The solution is based mainly on open source technologies such as CloudStack, Apache Spark, Apache HDFS and Jupyter. Both relational and NoSQL databases are used. The user can use the infrastructure in the, PaaS (Platform as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service) and CaaS (Containers as a Service) models. In this paper, selected use cases related to the work of Surveyor 4.0 will be shown. These are involving the preparation, processing and analysis of a variety of large spatial data sets using modern information technologies. The research results on infrastructure performance and plans for further development will also be presented.
