I was inspired by Hades with having the player stop while shooting, before I did that, it was too easy to just kite everything with autotargeting, but slowing the speed is a great idea. If I revisit the game I will try that, for sure!
Nope, what you found was not a misunderstood mechanic, haha, that is a rare bug that I had run into before!

Thanks for trying it out! In the spirit of the jam, I kept the default resolution low. Please feel free to hit Alt+Enter to full screen the game. I also added keyboard controls to the game page's controls description (WASD, TAB, V, B) to make sure people without gamepads could play.
