1. Height from ceiling/ crown

Crown - place curtain rod approx 2 inches below crown
Ceiling - place curtain rod approx 3 inches below (idk why it just looks better imo) can go a bit closer to crown

2. How close to the ground should it be ?

This is totally up to personal preference but most would agree it looks best when the curtains just kiss the ground. For this reason you want to hang your curtain rod AFTER buying your curtains so that you can adjust slightly. If you buy two pages curtains they actually have an adjustment tab in the application plastic hangers so you can slightly adjust the height!!

3. How far out should the curtain rod go past the window?
