Dezeen has selected the top 10 home interiors of 2020 – amongst the list is a rustic home in France and a multicoloured Tokyo apartment.

A new cantilevered stair behind a batten screen was key to a more open, light-filled interior—and it offered a consistent design element that cut through the section of the home. “The wood elements really envelope you and define the space,” says architect Ian Starling.

The latest designs and interiors from Los Angeles design studio Commune, including two projects for Ace Hotel in Chicago and downtown LA.

Child Studio has used a glass block wall, dark cherry wood panelling and a soft blue coffered ceiling to channel 1960s London in sushi restaurant Maido.
