Lindenwood University Athletics is committed to providing psychological services to student-athletes that foster mental health and well-being, promote success in educational and athletic goals, and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and multi-culturally aware athletics department and campus community.

Services
Individual sessions provide a unique opportunity to collaboratively explore issues that may be preventing you from reaching your potential athletically, academically, or personally. Common clinical and/or performance issues include, but are not limited to, stress management, anxiety, depression, disordered eating/body image concerns, substance abuse, transition difficulties, interpersonal relationships, confidence, coping with injury, and motivation.

Team/Small Group Sessions enable teams, small groups and/or coaches to address issues related to general mental health and performance enhancement. Topics may include team cohesion, goal-setting, stress management, mental skills development, sleep hygiene, competition preparation, and communication.

How to Make an Appointment
Student-athletes can arrange an initial appointment with the Director of Student-Athlete Mental Health through their athletic trainer or by calling Student Counseling Services at (636) 949-4522. Student-Athletes can also visit Student Counseling Services in the Wellness Center (3rd floor of Evans Commons) to make an appointment in person. Regular office hours are Monday - Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Location
The office of the Director of Student-Athlete Mental Health is located in the Wellness Center on the 3rd floor of Evans Commons.

Confidentiality
Feelings of trust and safety are critical for personal growth and relationship building. Therefore, confidentiality is taken very seriously. ALL conversations and correspondence between you, the student-athlete, and your counselor remain confidential. Any information that is discussed will not be shared with coaches, sports information, media, or any other member of the university without your written consent or in instances where disclosure is required by law.

What to Expect
The first session typically lasts about an hour and includes time for discussing current concerns, relevant history, and goals. Follow-up sessions typically last 45 minutes and occur once every week or two. All sessions focus on discussing goals, strategies, and skill development to address concerns.
