Resident Education Tuesday

Every Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. to noon is reserved for resident education. A variety of activities may occur during this time. Most often, the morning starts with grand rounds, followed by a patient care conference (alternating between obstetrics and gynecology). We discuss recent complicated cases, rare cases, or outcomes from selected cases.

Grand Rounds occurs every week. Speakers might include visiting professors, departmental faculty, or faculty from other departments within the University of Kentucky.

The remainder of the day consists of didactic lectures required by the CREOG residency handbook pertaining to:

  • General obstetrics
  • Maternal-fetal medicine
  • General gynecology
  • Ambulatory gynecology
  • Reproductive endocrinology
  • Pediatric gynecology
  • Surgical skills
  • Urogynecology
  • Primary care and routine health maintenance

Benign Gynecology Conference

The benign gynecology service participates in individual faculty gynecology clinics. Topics are chosen from selected operative gynecology, ambulatory gynecology, and other general gynecology texts. Also, the operative schedule is reviewed and discussed among the residents and faculty.

Baptist Health Patient Care Conference

Residents and the Baptist Health resident site director meet each Wednesday morning to discuss interesting and complicated cases. On selected Wednesdays, residents present topics in a Grand Rounds format to the volunteer faculty in attendance.
