Clinic Services
The UK Salvation Army Clinic sees eight patients per night on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until close (roughly 9 p.m.). Patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis and may sign up at the front desk of the Salvation Army Hanger Lodge from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Typically, we see eight patients per clinic night. Additional patients can be added to the list only if their need is great and the attending physician agrees. The clinic is not well-equipped to deal with emergency conditions, therefore those cases are referred to local emergency departments. All clinic staff—triagers, interviewers, floor managers, and physicians—are volunteers.
In addition to providing basic medical care to patients, SAC also provides several other health services including a nutrition clinic that offers healthy eating coaching, a smoking cessation support group that helps smokers quit smoking, and specialty clinics in pediatrics, dermatology, and ophthalmology.
