The best time to introduce a breastfed baby a bottle is ✨ 3-4 weeks old ✨ This ensures that breastfeeding is well established and reduces the risk of bottle over breast preference due to the difference in flow rates. Babies might prefer the bottle over the breast if introduced too early because a bottle gives a faster flow rate and is easier for the baby to extract the milk. This is why it is important to try and mimic breastfeeding by feeding in a side lying position and using slower flow rate nipples (example: Dr Brown Premie).
