Architects pays tribute to "true master" IM Pei

IM Pei, one of the most celebrated and prolific architects of the 20th century, has died aged 102.

Among his most celebrated projects is the pyramid for the Louvre.

From 2017, A Portrait of the Great Architect I. M. Pei at (Nearly) 100: Having conquered modernism, he moved beyond it to etch his legacy into the past century.

The architect, who died Thursday, was able to bridge contrary tendencies in the field, creating gorgeous yet unshowy buildings around the world.

Today, the famed architect I.M. Pei, who won the Pritzker Prize for architecture back in 1983, turns 100. Born in Shanghai in 1917, Pei emigrated to the U.S. in 1937, and has gone one to build some of the world's most iconic structures, from the Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland to the spectacular Bank of China tower in his hometown.
