9" banpresto super mario characters figure collection 2: mario (2006)

For some reason, video game characters don't often inspire quality toys. This line, though, is quite good - the figure has a nice sculpt, and the individual pieces are assembled in an inconspicuous way. Paint is merged well with the molded vinyl colors. The pose is a little stiff, and the face isn't all that expressive, but it balances well, and otherwise it's nicely on-model. The only thing that keeps it in the 'affordable' category (rather than simply 'cheap') is that's a Japanese toy…
