We met Amber Wilson this past spring at White’s Mercantile in Nashville, where she was debuting her first cookbook For The Love Of The South, titled after her popular blog. We were struck by the book's elegant photography that accompanied her takes on time-honored Southern classics—and then realized she shot them too.

Last month, I had the absolute honour of travelling, once again, to one of THE most beautiful places I know, - the Finnish Archipelago. It’s there that I got to teach our yearly 4-day advanced food photography, food styling, visual story telling and videography retreat together with food photographer, cookbook author and videographer, Viola Minerva Virtamo! Using natural light for food photography is a skill that allows you to transition from indoor to outdoor scenes easily. There are pros and cons to using natural light for food photography and the decision is ultimately up to you. How you choose to work does not determine how good, bad, or professional you are at your craft.
